Thoughts about a Death Expansion Pack?

Hello everyone,

So yes, I'm pretty sure this theme won't really be in the game but I'm still curious about your thoughts if we ever get a WHOLE expansion about Death.

New Careers:
- Grim Reaper (Freelancer)
- Mortician/Undertaker
- Therapist/ Grief Counselor: Active career

New Skills:
- Reaping Skill (if the skill is too low, chances are reaping souls won't work and the sim who is supposed to die won't :D )
- Crafting Skill (This can include Pottery with Ceramic, Glass Fabrication, and Marble Work) which can include urns and coffins too

New Lot type:
-Graveyard/ Cemetery with special events depending on the Moon Phase (can be disabled in the game options for people who don't play with occults)

New Occults:
- Mummies or Zombies or Both (why not, depending on the reaping skill I guess?)
- Create Ghosts in CAS + Possessions with various effects on the possessed Sims depending on the ghost's type

- With the new lot, a new lot event may be implemented (zombies crawling out their tombs, hauntings, temporary curses, etc...) depending on the moon phase or the traditions from the Seasons Expansion Pack if the player has it (Of course as I said earlier, it should be an option only).

Deaths:
- Other emotions can kill the Sims (Death by Fear like in the Sims 2, Death by Boredom -which gives the fun need a purpose-, Death by Extreme Sadness)
- No second chance (Death on 1st strike: option to enable in the game options): I'm kinda tired of having no surprise in the game when it comes to death, I always have a warning (even the fastest death, death by meteorite, gives a warning). But if players don't want their sims to die on the 1st strike, it should be an option in the game.

New Social Event:
- Funerals

I don't think a new world is necessary so they can really work on more details (well a secret/hidden lot would be nice though). Also, I'm more of an occult player so I see it more with occult gameplay in mind but maybe you have something on the more "realistic" side of the theme?

What do you think?

PS: there are rumors about a death theme apparently, so it was way more possible than I thought

Edit: WELL...so we're getting a death EP after all😅

    I play with aging off but that doesn't stop me to summon Grim. Scientists can make a potion to summon Grim, with crytal creations, there is a crystal to summon Grim. I don't kill my sims either, I don't like that, but I love creating Ghosts (with cheats of course)...not liking Death in the game doesn't stop me at all from playing elements associated with Death in the game

    Haha you just named all the things i do not like and dont use. Science, potions... never done that ! And ghosts are kinda boring i havent played one in many years, i rarely play occults tbh its not my style ! Like i said i am just not a fan of the reaper. I do like to delete the ugly townies haha. And I do not own crystal pack nor any magic stuff ! anyhoo... thanks for sharing, have a good day !

    How depressing. Why not celebrate life! This world has enough death, evil, misery. Not what I want to do to relax and play a game at the end of a busy day. Will have to pass on this one.

    Yes, as the saying goes "To each their own". I feel the same with Romance so I didn't buy Lovestruck at all, it's everything I don't use (same for growing together, I find it so boring). So I understand that every theme is not for everyone

    In my mom's culture, we also celebrate the dead cause they are considered as our protectors, it's not depressing to me. Death is also part of life, without death, we'll be overpopulated and will not have enough ressources for everyone, life without Death is impossible.

    Also, if it's a pack, it's optional, it's not for everyone, the same way dating is not for everyone, the same way having burnouts and midlife crisis is not for everyone, the same way vampires/ghosts/spellcasters/werewolves are not for everyone...that's the fun of the game.

  • I'm very curious about what they plan on adding to a "Life and Death" expansion pack. Seems a very broad topic, and by the looks of the announcement with the tarot cards it appears it may lean in an "occulty" direction, which would be a lot more interesting to me than a pack based solely on funerals.

    My main hope is that they update ghosts and give them a more solid identity rather than just transparent sims. A "haunting skill" would be fun, allowing them to interact with more objects as they skill up, and perhaps unlocking unique interactions and abilities.

    My second hope would be for a "psychic" skill which would allow living sims to see and interact with ghosts. Without this skill your sim will only see the objects a ghost is messing with moving about and they will become scared and run away. As you develop the skill, your sim will be able to both see the ghosts and interact with them in unique ways. This skill would tie in nicely with a new psychic career with a fortune teller and grim reaper branch split.

    My third and last wish would be for a graveyard lot type that has cross-pack compatibility with all the occults as well as the spooky holiday goal from seasons. I'd love for vampires, spellcrafters, and werewolves to gain unique moodlets from visiting a graveyard, perhaps even depending on what time of day they visit. During a full moon there should be a lot more activity from npc occults wandering around. One of the graveyard lot requirements should be a mausoleum. This structure will allow you to find any gravestone from a deceased sim as well as be a rabbithole for adventure. Entering will give you chance cards with a possibility of coming out with treasure or as a temporary occult depending on what packs you have in your game. Going in during a full moon increases your chances.

    Well this is getting long, but these are my three main hopes and wishes for this expansion. I'm sure we'll also get some more stuff for elders to do (the life part of this expansion) since one of the gurus hinted at it earlier, as well as a funeral event; but I'm less interested in those aspects.

    If it's occult leaning, I'm all for it. Although, I would hate if interactions with ghosts are locked to a skill😅. I agree that ghosts should be upgrated in a pack made for Death, I also hope that other occults could have some special features (I cross my fingers for mermaids to finally have their special gravestones)

  • Is anyone familiar with the TV show "Dead like me"? It was a show in the early 2000s about a group of grim reapers but they looked like regular people. 

    That is where my mind is going in relation to the life and death EP. I'm thinking perhaps it will be like that. I'm definitely very curious. I'm not super into occults so I am hoping there is something in this pack that interests me so I have a reason to purchase.
