I've been playing my simself exclusively for the last couple of years. I think she's a fair representation of what I look like, or rather what I looked like in my long ago 20s. The reason I do is not conceited, at least to my mind. I've experienced a tremendous amount of personal tragedy in the last 10 or so years of my life, and I enjoy playing my simself and giving her a wonderful, happy life where nothing tragic ever happens. It keeps me sane.
However, I don't play any of my relatives in the sims. My sim husband is vaguely based off my favorite actor. I didn't even bother to try to get the resemblance all that close. I've never made my children, since I know I couldn't bear them dying in game, and since I play generations, that happens. When Sims 2 was the current version, I did used to make myself and my RL husband and had a ball playing us. He passed away in 2009 and that put an end to that. To create him in the Sims now would be too painful.
