TIP for Canadians - Snowy Escape is cheaper in retail like amazon.ca

If your Canadian you might be aware of this, but Maxis/EA sells their digital expansions at a $11 markup online (so 51.99+3$ tax=$55) if you buy it from origin. Yet sell their expansion packs for $39.99 in Canadian retail stores in Canada. Snowy Escape is no different.

Currently only amazon.ca has it listed but eventually all online retailers who sell Sims physical expansion packs will too like ebgames.

So if you want to save yourself $15 and not in a hurry (but don't want to wait for a digital sale either), I suggest picking it up via amazon.ca unless you really can't wait and need to play it the night it unlocks.

Plus you get the physical case if you like to collect them!
  • I got the star wars one at 50% off and STILL haven't even loaded Sims 4 to check it out. I can wait til this one is 50% off too. I can wait til everything is 50% off.

I can wait til they stop making new content for S4 so I can go and get all the mods to make it what they should have made it without mods.
  • Thank you! I always forget that expansions are cheaper for us in store here. A wonderful reminder
  • Also cdkeys 100% aswell, its already 40% off on there. Not sure if that's the same for Canada though

Thanks for the tip. I have a question though. Does buying a physical release come with a download code or anything, or is it disc-only? Because I've been buying all my Sims 4 stuff through Origin, and my laptop doesn't have a CD drive.

All physical EA sold PC games come with a registration/cd code aka download code to register your game with origin.

If they didn't give you a code you couldn't play the game or register it with EA and once you register it the game it will be saved forever to your account.

I've bought most of my expansion packs via amazon to save money (why they charge more for digital release that costs less to produce than physical makes me so mad) and honestly don't even use the DVD include, I just register the expansion key in origin and let it download it instead.

Sometimes the physical release doesn't even include a DVD, just the box and download code which is really what your buying. Although I suppose for some they might not have a good internet connection and need the dvd's to install the packs.
