I usually click the Interactions like 'Get To Know', 'Deep Conversation' etc. These kinds of Interactions seem to add quite allot of points to the Friendship Bar. You should also try increasing your Sims' Charisma Skill, having Traits like Outgoing and getting Reward Traits that affect other Sims positively can also aid you a great deal.
