At first I was really excited with the new building model. But then again; My previous Sims game was the Sims 2 so I came from far. Now that I put several hundreds of hours in the Sims 4 I am sort of getting fed up with a lot of the features in building mode. The main thing that annoys me is that you can't have different heights on a lot. It also annoys me that you cannot construct a room by just dragging a wall manually. I still believe the building mode has a lot of potential and in some ways it's really easy to use, but it I feel very limited when building. I have to say I am also disappointed with the amount of items you got with the vanilla game and I was kind of pissed off I had to buy expansion packs to get a hottubs.
