Survey on Legacy Play & Rags to Riches

Discussing here is all well and good but I highly encourage simmers to also post their feedback in the  Discord channels.

Already some requests for enhanced family trees in the Legacy feedback channel. I know that's been a topic of discussion here. More requests couldn't hurt. 🙂

I use Discord for a lot of things but I feel like the Sims Discord is going to be far too busy for my taste, which is why I haven't joined it.  But I would also love to have my say regarding dragons, since I'm a big fan.

As I am always so blabbery about my hopes and dreams
I'll only answer the most important questions:

• How can dragons be used to improve your gameplay?
  - Dragons could protect my legacy from ruin by chasing away any unwanted prince charmings.
  they would also make lovely new family member and add to stories I am telling,
  I mean what really is legacy story without some dragons?
  
  
• How could you use dragons to get rich?
  - Dragons could find treasure, as it is in their nature to decorate their lair with all the riches they find.
  They could also help you create treasures to sell due to their eternal knowledge
  or maybe be more of a practical help in your crafts when they have some extra scales and such to shed 🤔
  mayhaps even dragon fire could help you forge whatever your heart desires 🔥
  
  but while great help to your household if you so choose,
  angered dragons could also pose challenge for your rags to riches sims 
  as they might burn your hard earned possessions.
  
  which is why you'll want to keep your dragon plenty happy
  with all the cuddles and snacks and fun activities possible 🐲💚

Legacy play gameplay yes I am interested about my Sims past, heritage and ancestors I think that will bring out more of the Sims personality and it will be fun.

I do both create my own stories and use the premade Sims back stories if they are interesting. 

SpongeBob "imagination." Lol. No hum growing up my Aunt would baby sit me and she would watch a lot of Soap Operas my favorite was All My Children and Sims 2 Pleasantview helped a lot with the drama, also teen drama like. One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, Degrassi, The OC, 90210. As you can tell the CW/WB had me chokehold lol. Also Desperate Housewives. And also like family sitcom like Full House, Fresh Prince, Family Matters, the Jeffersons, All in the family the Brady Bunch.

I will need a Preteen Lifestage stage like with the Brady Bunch again is the perfect example you make Cindy, Bobby, Greg, and Marsha, but you can't make Peter and Jan. 

CAS wedding rings like the engagement ring and wedding band make that an heirloom that you pass down. Wedding dress and suit that you can. Pass down. 

Dragons I don't know make far far away land lol. 

I don't do discord nor social media sites like X(Twitter)/FB.

Dragons, heritage and ancestry... I hope this means medieval gameplay or medieval to modern to future world gameplay. I hope this also means editing large family trees (like in manage world or something), like the Goth, Crumplebottom, Bachelor and Caliente families which are connected together throughout the series Edit extended Family Trees | EA Forums - 12261207. I hope this means we can add placeholder spots in family trees too.

I haven't play a rags to riches game myself though. I also do not do legacy games. I usually have a set theme, storyline instead, and use freerealestate cheat but force myself to sustain income after that. This seems like an interesting survey/discussion though.

Really good ideas in that thread you linked. Hopefully someone else submitted the same idea on the Discord Legacy Feedback channel. 👍

No, go ahead and blab. I love seeing people share their opinions, ideas and what they focus on most. One of my fave parts of the forum are people posting about what they did with their sims, and they just gush about their stories and thoughts.

My turn to post. Pretend I posted this 2 days ago, and didn't forget to do it until now.

Legacy

• Are you interested in stories around your Sims family’s past, heritage or ancestors? Do you tell those stories yourself? Do you have written examples?
  Heritage and ancestry are big parts of my gameplay. I play with occults. Lineage, family businesses and legacies are a big part of that. Another big part of making a legacy is being able to build up the world around my sims; they can have ancestry going back to other households; their great-grandma built up a community lot on her own; everyone can take part in a certain belief system I've created, which is passed down of shared as part of a culture. 
  
  
• How do you create those backstories? And what would you need to more easily do this? Which objects, Create A Sim, Build Buy, traits, etc. would you help to tell stories about your family’s past?
  I'd love more cultural items, skills, and ways to take part in culture. My sims are usually Latin/Selvadoradian, because it's the only culture in the game where sims can not only visit it, but also take part in specific cultural elements, skill up and learn about the culture, share it with others, and fill their homes with cultural aspects. Most in-game cultures only have a couple of those, so they're usually a lot more shallow. 
  
  This also plays into occults, too. My sim is a spellcaster, so they can make potions, practice spells, maybe go to the magic realm and do nothing. I can make custom holidays for them, but there are no holiday activities made for occults. I can make a witch-y house, but the items for one are spread across multiple packs and are still very limited. 
  
  Aaaaand making it so sims aren't removed from family trees after they're culled. I HATE seeing blank spots on my family trees, and the game acting like older sims never existed. I'd accept culling if it didn't mean 
  
  
  

Rags to Riches

• What do you enjoy most when playing the “rags to riches” community challenge? Why do you engage with it?
  I do it because it's more challenging, and it makes me feel like my sims really earn the things they get when they have to scrimp and save to get them.
  
  
• What were the most interesting stories you experienced within the rags to riches challenge?
  Playing as a teen mom in witness protection, who had to raise a baby during the winter while also having no money. And when I played rags to riches with a child on a deserted island.
  
  
• What do you feel could be better in your “rags to riches” experience? (e.g. clearer guidance, in between milestones, rewards, …)
  I feel like we need MORE challenges and setbacks. The game already makes it too easy to get a load of money, and things like the Natural Living skill can trivialize the challenge. Imo, the appeal of the challenge is the struggle and how great it feels when you overcome it. You come to really appreciate your sims for overcoming things. I don't want to be constantly kicked down and make no progress, but having (optional) challenges I can work through would improve it. 
• Which objects, Create A Sim, Build Buy, traits, etc. would you like to have to better tell the initial “rags” or later “riches” phase? Where do you feel it is lacking the most?
  I'd love more cheap, shabby and falling-apart-y b/b, like what we got with Werewolves. Eclectic items that are of poor quality and don't really go with anything. Items you use because you HAVE to, not because you want to.
  
  As for traits, I'd love to see the current traits updated in relation to having no money. Like bookworms being upset that they don't have any bookshelves or a computer; Geeks worrying that they don't have enough money to buy video game consoles; Family Oriented Sims with kids stressing over not being able to provide for their family; Ambitious sims struggle hard during the early game, but can reflect on how far they've come and be happy.

Not everyone uses discord or even cares to. As stated by the OP of this thread and reflected by myself.
