To patch or not to patch ?

I have backed up my game
Should I patch then wait for the hot fix
or wait for the hot fix then play the game ? Will the patch and hot fix go on at the same time
I haven’t played my game in a few days as I was waiting for high school years to come out before playing

Thanks for any opinions & answers

Happy simming
  • I patched, but haven't touched my save file. I have to wait for a hot fix as I don't want to risk my precious save file (simming since Nov 2014). I was so looking forward to the new HSY EP, but with the latest news (no cross-pack gameplay with Get Together and Parenthood) I think about holding back on purchasing the EP.
  • Im only building until a new fix is out. I decided to turn Oasis Springs into a tourist destination with a mobile home park.

You will need the patch if you want to play the new EP right away. How important are the new base game features such as curved walls, body hair, wants and fears? Curved walls are a bit glitchy. Wants and fears don't really include other packs beyond BG and HSY.

If you can wait then that's the answer to your question. Hot fix may roll out soon or it could take another day or two.

I normally don't patch right away but I really wanted to build with curved walls and I do plan on playing the new EP today so I patched. Even with my game backed up I won't be playing my normal save files for a bit.

Unless you really want to play HSY when it releases or really want to try out the new game features there is not a huge reason to update... It's probably also more fun to try out the new features with the new pack so you have more body hair and wants and fears, as long as they fix the aging bug.

The patch also comes with potential bugs and features which people have not really been happy with either. Sims use the phone all the time now, there is a bug which causes you to not be able to invite sims from another world to travel with you, the game shows fame points for all sims and the classic cottage living npc's are getting replaced with generated townies.

I wouldn't have patched if I had known wants & fears only include base game and Highschool years (which I'm not buying). Body hair, bug fixes and sitting crossed leg on the ground are nice (I was already planning which parks would have picnic blankets (rugs)) but I would have liked to keep old whims a bit longer.
  • @SamadamsPlayer i have patched mine but not played any of my saved games. I’m like you I don’t want to play it till the new Expansion pack is released. Which won’t be till 6pm tomorrow in the UK i’m just hoping the hot fix will be out later tonight. Hope this was a nice answer to give ?
  • Thank you everyone for your input I’ve have triple backed up just in case I have patched but not playing till the hot fix is out
I would have thought my wedding stories would have given EA a clue to thoroughly test everything before anything goes out I don’t think it’s fair on us the players or the Sim gurus who seam to get the brunt of the complaints
I think EA should put out an apology for failing everyone again
Yes bugs happens can’t get them all but not all these constant game braking ones
I’m loosing confidence that the game can go for years as they claim

    Happy simming everyone

I will not patch until much later.... but I may try out things on another computer just to see how bad the bugs are.
  • The patch is working fine for me. I do play on normal life spans though, the other options seem to be having an issue though.
