Toddler: care for self?

Hello. When I'm off my main lot, I can click on sims portraits that are still on the main lot and select "care for self" and they'll deal with any low needs. For a toddler I can't do that even when other sims are with them. So if the toddler gets really hungry I either have to go back home since other adult sims aren't handling it, or "bring the toddler here" to where I am, address it, and send them back home.

Is there a way around this?

  • i think they are meant to go to daycare but if there is adult on lot they will stay home causing this trouble

especially annoying with active careers when you can't bring them to work with you or anything

unsure if it would work to cheat " fill household needs" if you add mailbox but that means filled needs for all household sims even ones you play

I would send them to daycare instead of leaving with family members, other household members or hiring a nanny. The needs are taken care of in day care way better. I thought hiring a nanny would solve that. Nope. So highly suggest just doing daycare.

I remember seeing this on all sims when i just had the base game installed, was this removed with expansion packs?
  • I would love them to add "do homework" for the school-aged Sims, instead of just take care of needs or the other things we can direct them to do. Also, it wouldn't hurt to add "take care of Baby/Toddler Needs". What is the point in leaving an Adult behind if they simply don't function? Used to be in Sims3, if we saw household members going into the red, we could bounce the camera back to the household to amend the situation, but then return it to the worker continue directing them in their work day. Now you can't do that without bringing the worker home for the day. If you ask me, it's an EPIC fail.
  • I think what happens with all sims set to "care for self" is that the lowest need gets addressed until it's all the way full. They don't switch to another need until the first is completely green. Only then does another need start to fill. I don't think they fill multiple needs at once.

Toddler needs decay so fast that that can become a problem esp if any needs were already low when you left the house.
