Toddler schedule?

I don't have a strict schedule for my toddlers, just fill their needs as I go, but they NEVER get a full night sleep because even if I feed them before going to bed, they'll still be in the red for hunger way before they're done sleeping.

How do you deal with it? Make them nap when their bar is half way gone or something? It's driving me a bit nuts and I always end up with an overtired, hangry toddler that has to pee at some point...

Like @LiaRose1435, I like to micro manage all of my sims. So I have my toddlers on a schedule, but it also depends on how their parents are. So some of my toddlers have more free rein than others. Normally they are up no later than 8 am, eat breakfast, get bathed, go to the potty, then I let them play a bit.

After one of the parents will help with with a skill or two, they get read a book. Normally it's snack time, so they either get juice or cookies, and sometimes both. More playtime. The majority of my sims will start dinner around 5 - 6 pm, so that's when the toddler will eat as well. Play a bit more, story time, then in bed no later than 9 pm. And everything starts over the next day. :D

you must have exceptional toddlers to get that all done in one day. my toddlers only have a bath when their hygiene goes in the yellow. a story if there all there and awake at the same time. (twins or triplets) they need a nap or sleep in the afternoon. and sometimes they have to get up in the night to eat and pee. even when they have eaten and peed before bed. Their hunger, bladder and energy goes down way too fast. I never use the highchair, they eat from a family plate.

    Same here lol.

Might have to start doing naps.
  • As others have mentioned, an afternoon nap tends to help keep them from getting too tired too early. If you're sending a toddler to bed in the red and their hunger gets into the red before they wake up, then try getting them to bed in the yellow....less sleep time to get back to full energy means the hunger meter will drop less during the time they are sleeping. Since they can nap in a chair, on a couch or even on the ground, it's easy to have them get a quick nap in to avoid having to send them to bed too early.

the snacks given to the toddler in a high chair barely fill them up. A proper meal (I drag it to the floor in their room) will fill them up longer. I also have my toddler nap in the early afternoon, so they can get to bedtime without being in the red.

While most of the toddler foods will easily fill the hunger meter to max except a few, cereal comes to mind, I've definitely found that the hunger meter drops slower when they eat regular meals. I don't know if the meter, itself, just isn't all that accurate visually or what. If someone is having problems with the hunger meter dropping to red while sleeping, I'd definitely go with the regular meals.

  • Honestly whenever the family I'm playing has to deal with multiple toddlers I just switch to a different family until it's over, I just can't keep up with them.
  • I have triplets right now (AHHHHHH!) and one of the parents works 9am to 6pm. The other stays at home. They also have 3 dogs that need walking. So the triplets wake up around 8am-9am and they go straight in their high chairs for food. After about an hour, they are taken out for baths if needed. If not, they go straight to the potty and work on the potty skill until about 11am. Then I'll hire a nanny and they play in their room with the nanny while the parent takes the dogs for walks. The nanny leaves at about 1, and the kids keep playing until 4:30 (the parent is either writing or playing with them) then it's time for dinner. Dinner is in high chairs until about 6 when parent #2 comes home, then the toddlers are all put to bed with a story to prevent nightmares. Wash, rinse, repeat.
