Too many people in a business when you open

I thought I would go back to an older pack and try running a business again. I have tried 2 new business and I seem to have the same problem every time: only a couple of staff members and my Sim and wham! you get slammed with 15 or so people and it is impossible to try and please everyone! Frustrating. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to limit the number of people allowed in when you open your business or is there some kind of cheat for this? Thanks so much and a happy Halloween to all.

  • I actually think the large number of customers showing up to a newly opened business is a bug. When I first played around with the retail system some years back I remember only getting five customers max in my store, once I purchased advertisements and unlocked perks more customers began showing up. But now when I start a new retail business I tend to get quite a large number of customers from the get go, making purchasing advertisements kind of useless.

As for managing the large number of customers, I wouldn't worry about making all the customers happy, just focus on a select few and leave the others alone. If some customers get upset and storm out oh well it is what it is. Managing a large number of customers becomes easier as your business progresses.
  • Can you hire employees? I know you can with vet clinics. My employees help quite a bit. I've also brought family members who pitched in and helped serve customers.
  • I don't think there is any way to lock out new customers from coming, besides locking the doors, I do know that shops have "curb appeal". The better decorated and the more signage you have the more customers will come to your shop.
