I play these two families less devotedly because of this, I don't want to keep track on every single minor money transfer. It's easier say if two singles have separate parts of the house, but in my case there are 2 families each of 4 family members.
If you are not opposed to using mods SNB has account system & there are some mods for non-shared inventories. But still "managing" two different households in a townhouse style is troublesome. I've tried it a couple of times and gave up in the end.
