A agree that most of the time happy buffs are too overpowering.
One of the main issues is that negative emotions don't stack or feed into each other. Happy buffs can feed into positive emotions making them stronger while negative emotions needs buffs of the same type to power them.
Another thing is that traits don't play into emotions enough. Like you said a Hot-headed sim's angry emotion get's overshadowed by all their happy emotions or any other emotions they may be feeling. Imo a Hot-headed sims angry buffs should be more powerful. Cause irl someone with a short temper could be having the best time and then because of one little thing is angry and ready to lash at others.
