Traveling in your game

Anyone else pretending your sims go by plane, train, boats or bus/car when traveling between two worlds?

In my Mazaloom I organized a network of various transport options, and I like the idea of knowing the distances between misc worlds, or what world they need to go via. More on my blog. Anyone do something similar in their game?

I don't give much thought to how they travel but I do base travel on how much time I think it takes them to get to their destination. I have a general idea in my head how all the worlds are connected and how long it takes to get to a particular world.

There are certain locations that are local and can be traveled to at any time. Like lots in their home world or an adjoining world.

There are other locations that require more traveling and are better suited to a day trip.

Some require an overnight stay in a rental.

Mine is so similar to this that I am lay and simply quote 😁

I pretty much use the same principle nowadays . I used to have more strict rules and even tried to make my sims pay for transport. The farther away the destination, the higher the cost to get there. The only problem was that I forgot to immediately subtract the money from their account for every trip outside of their home world .

I try to have sims stay in worlds close to the one they live in for short trips. I even made a chart to decide which worlds are close and stay longer for trips far away

Some are accessible from every world for practical reasons like shops in magnolia promenade or the cemetery in forgotten hollow. Remote locations require overnight stays.

  • I have the worlds loosely organized in my head according to the real life city or country I feel they're inspired by. Each save is different, so time and distance vary with each. Some saves are more reality based and others have little or no connection to the real world. There's always some use of airplanes to reach certain worlds in each save though. And some worlds are always far enough away that it requires staying over since it's not possible to complete a round trip in

  • Mostly I just teleport my Sims around as I see fit. With the exception of destination worlds of course. But, I played the globetrotter challenge and then you are restricted to a single world for the season. I built a lot of new community lots for that 😂 Moonwood Mill got very tedious, very fast.

But I like the idea of having different regions and grouping worlds together based on scenery/climate. It does make sense. But all travel still takes one loading screen and zero minutes in game. So you'd need to either simulate (like the waiting for the bus mentioned before) or cheat that time.

  • I do this too! I don’t have a map or any transport mods, but in my mind I have a rough idea of where all worlds are in relation to each other, so sometimes when I want my sim to go to a world that’s further away from their home lot I’ll make it more of a “day out”, so to speak. Worlds like vacations world or Sulani and Mt. Komorebi are in my mind so far away that usually they’ll only go there on vacation for at least a week.

  • My sims worldly travels are:

PACIFIC Sulani Island & Greek/Italian Tartosa Island

EUROPEAN Windenburg, Henford, Brindleton Bay, Glimmerbrook, Forgotten Hollow & Moonwood Mill

NORTH AMERICAN Copperdale, Sequoia, Chestnut Ridge, DS Valley & Granite Falls(Camping)

ASIAN San Myschino, Mt. Komorebi & Tomarang

SOUTH AMERICAN Oasis Springs, Ciudad & Selvadorada(Adventure)

    OTHERWORLDLY Strangerville & Sixam(Alien)

TIME TRAVEL Ancient Times, Medieval Times, Georgian/Victorian Age, 20th Century & Futuristic 2525

(FYI: I play vanilla & I'm never bored with my Sims 4)

  • Mine are roughly organized like in my build thread The World of Simmingal

    (sort by oldest)

Occult worlds are close to all worlds magically

batuu and sixam can only be visited via rocket ship or magic being on different planets

otherwise its roughly like real map although america is very much juggled and everything is much closer together because all city worlds are just one san city

asian countries are close to each other by sea on separate islands but sulani and selvadorada are on one island and closest to america cause world is indeed little ball of yarn
