Try Something New With The Sims 5?

I want to know if people are ready to see the Sims with a new twist, or if they are content with the modern theme.

If/when they do get around to creating a Sims 5, which of the following themes would get you most excited?

  • No more medieval or future packs :#
    I found both poor.

I would love a remake of the sims 2 ps2 castaways more, or somethings new.
  • I'm very happy with Sims 4, but as a history nerd, I would love anything historical themed. Not just medieval - Victorian, 17th century with it's grand palaces... Fantasy could be really fun too. Future stuff doesn't interest me, take me to the past!
  • Start off at the base of the space elevator with options to emigrate to one of several planets or remain on Earth--in which case you pick one of several starting places (city/town/village). The base-game starting planets would have different levels of technology--one futuristic, one pretty primitive, and one where magic works.

EA has created a good bit of distrust by recycling watered down versions of the previous versions of the game. They'll need to start TS5 off with something different, and with lots of interesting options.

Give us back our sandbox play, and lots of different places to play in.

edited to add: ideally, while the planets might start out with only one city/town/village, we'd have the ability to add additional copies of that, and travel back and forth between them with our sims. Traveling to other planets would eat up a year of your sim's life, though. :anguished:

Exp. packs could add new planets as the OP suggested, while game packs might add one new city, town, or village to a particular planet.

Yeah, not going to happen, but OP, I like your idea!
  • I think that the Sims is very much a life simulation game so to have it in the future or medieval as the base game kind of defeats the purpose as well as limits game play. I think those maybe would work as World alternatives, but if the base game was based in the future or medieval times it would limit what packs you could have and how you play.

EDIT: When I commented I had not read any previous comments. I retract my "limit game play" comment because clearing some people are much more imaginative than me. I do think that the option to choose would be cool rather than just having one set style.

I'd like to see Sims 5 start somewhere in the future but not too far in the future. I'd like to see the game pick up where the kids of the Legacy Sims we love have aged to adults and see where their lives have gone. Like Alexander Goth is adult and heir to the Goth fortune while Cassandra had a baby with Don Lothario but he didn't want to commit. Or if Angela married Dustin and Lilith married Dirk or rather they didn't. It would be interesting to see where some of the premade families have developed in these years.
  • The base game needs to be modern day. This is the winning formula in the sims series.

I'd like those other ideas as spin offs (I am one of those people that really liked Sims Medieval :P) but not for TS5.
