It adds one career (acting) but any career has a path to fame. Entertainers will actually have some purpose now that they can actually become famous. You could have a JK Rowling or Stephen King pumping out books, or Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen complete with Shout Forbidden Words. Yes, we've had "celebrity chef" and "celebrity mixologist" but till now they've just been titles -- now they can actually be celebrities. In one of @SimGuruKate Tweets she mentioned both a Fame system and a Reputation system -- that's the sort of "under the hood" programming that doesn't show up in a trailer but could have a big impact on gameplay,

We haven't even seen any of the objects or CASsets yet -- that might come next week with SimsCamp being over and the embargo lifted on the Campers on Monday. I think the livestreams are also starting next week focusing on different aspects of the pack. I think it's way too soon to judge whether this pack is "too small" to be an EP.

That's actually why they made the festival to get players to start using them more. Also the future cube is one of the prizes you can get, why? Because it was one of the least used/most hated/most forgotten object in game and that they thought it would be funny if it was a prize.

Switching to the Humour and Highjinx festival the prize for team mischief is the voodoo doll because it too is one of the most forgotten and least used objects, though not hated.

If this pack was ''packed with content'' and tons of new stuff (not fluff (chairs and tables) but actual gameplay content) they would have shown it in the initial reveal trailer.

Even so, we haven’t really seen much of that system at all — or how it impacts other jobs/careers, which is what a guru said is a huge part of the pack. The “trailer” was pretty much just showing off acting content and crazed paparazzi.

I like the idea of a fame EP, but don’t forget we got it in TS3 along with an entire open city, penthouses, dance clubs, apartments, bands, bars, vampires, butlers, and a whole bunch of other content. If you’re going to separate a concept like fame into its own expansion pack, I would hope it would be crammed with content, and not just a career.

I think you're a little confused. You seem to have combined two packs into one post.

S3 Late Night gave us dance clubs (S4=Get Together)
vampires (S4=Vampires)
paparazzi (S4=Get Famous)
apartments/penthouses and only one per giant building (S4=City Living)
bars (I'm guessing you mean private bars with a bouncer, S4=Get Famous)
butlers (S4=Vintage Glamour)
one career, Film (S4=Get Famous)
bands (did not come in the fame pack/Showtime).

S3 Showtime gave us three careers, acrobat, magician, singer (S4=music career/Base Game, singing skill, busking/City Living)
DJ Booth (S4=Get Together)
karaoke machine (S4=City Living)
stages (not yet)
Simport (I hope this mistake is never repeated.)
The rest is FLUFF like tables and chairs.

Showtime, the S3 pack that gave us the ability to become a celebrity, didn't give us dance clubs or penthouses/apartments or bands or vampires or butlers or other stuff you and others seem to think came in a pack about fame (Showtime).

All that seems to be lacking is bands and stages which I have no doubt we will get but I hope in a Hobbies pack or a pack of their own.

How would education tie in with a pack about Fame? I'd rather wait and see it come with a University pack or a pack that overhauls the current education system and adds features like customizable schools, homeschooling, private school etc.

I'm sure some might have built grand stories or had grand gameplay around all that but I don't see how I could (I will concede partly because I disliked the game from the start and could never get past that).

What I see coming for acting here in Sims 4 through trailers, what's been said by gurus and some statements from Sims Camp and some assumptions is this...
I can have a sim go into an active acting career lot, have a lively set around them with directors, makeup artists and other jobs I'm not sure of. They can get ready for a scene involving hair and makeup, they can be in multiple scenes with different genres (still waiting to see how that plays out). They have a perk system that someone at sim camp said is like the vampire system. They have a separate fame and reputation system with at least one assurance that they learned lessons from the past by the sim gurus (so to me that means options or at least not overkill still gotta wait on that), they have bodyguards or can, they have fans that look to have multiple reactions and autograph signing, there is a walk of fame and the getting of an award pictured in the trailer (not sure how it works yet but it does look good).
On top of that of course we have a new world, the ability to apply the fame and reputation system widely (but not to be worried about it) learned today you can get famous by giving money away for instance, a money vault that you can play with (gameplay object?), and of course the build buy/CAS that is almost always impressive to me.
I'm sure there is even more...
Either way though if it's this focused I as a storyteller/player am looking forward to this with bells on. It will give me way more stories to tell.

The acting career is 100% far more in-depth than the rabbithole career we got in TS3, however, that is not really what this thread is criticizing. It's the fact we're given a fame expansion pack, yet its gameplay seems to have extended no further than a game pack, focusing entirely on this acting career. It seems it was given the title of an expansion because it ships with a world (whose assets look recycled from San Myshuno) and some fluff.

Expansions back in TS2, and often TS3, used to have a nice theme and have plenty of content to support that theme. TS4 expansions mostly feel on the lighter side to me, and the gameplay mechanics aren't always superior to their predecessors.
