from the looks of it we get,

acting/directing career path
fame
new world
oh fame for the other careers.

this it seems will be the main focus of the pack, and it still seems small for a expansion pack. I think the world will end up being the cause of such a light expansion pack.
maybe if they did not do the world we could of got more NEW active careers.

this sort of pack should of had at least three new careers. the fame added for current careers should be in a patch anyway if you ask me, not in expansion pack.


not having singing career or a bands in a pack called get famous does does not make sense.

Even so, we haven’t really seen much of that system at all — or how it impacts other jobs/careers, which is what a guru said is a huge part of the pack. The “trailer” was pretty much just showing off acting content and crazed paparazzi.

I like the idea of a fame EP, but don’t forget we got it in TS3 along with an entire open city, penthouses, dance clubs, apartments, bands, bars, vampires, butlers, and a whole bunch of other content. If you’re going to separate a concept like fame into its own expansion pack, I would hope it would be crammed with content, and not just a career.

Even if that fame system is better than all previous versions then I would still be disappointed because as you mentioned in your second part - We used to get so much more for the same price. Packs were filled to the brink with content and now everything is split up into multiple packs.
But that's a discussion for another thread and has been discussed many times before, so all I can say is that I really, really hope we'll get more than one career, a world and a fame system. I want to be positively surprised but I don't see it happening tbh.

I'm really not sure why people think we've seen everything that's in this pack. We've had one video, and one post-launch blog post. There's weeks of livestreams scheduled, and there's sure to be weeks of more videos and more blog posts.

vampires (S4=Vampires)
paparazzi (S4=Get Famous)

one career, Film (S4=Get Famous)

S3 Showtime gave us three careers, acrobat, magician, singer (S4=music career/Base Game, singing skill, busking/City Living)
DJ Booth (S4=Get Together)
karaoke machine (S4=City Living)
stages (not yet)
Simport (I hope this mistake is never repeated.)
The rest is FLUFF like tables and chairs.

Showtime, the S3 pack that gave us the ability to become a celebrity, didn't give us dance clubs or penthouses/apartments or bands or vampires or butlers or other stuff you and others seem to think came in a pack about fame (Showtime).

All that seems to be lacking is bands and stages which I have no doubt we will get but I hope in a Hobbies pack or a pack of their own.

All the information you quote is accurate. However, the problem is how much it costs for all the content. For all the content listed from the Sims 3 Late Night & Showtime, it costs $60, $30 for each EP. In the Sims 4, it costs a grand total of $150 for 3 EPs, 1 GP and 1 SP. That's more than double the amount of money we paid in the past for the same amount of content. Does that seem right to you??

prices go up thats just how things are also a lot of the things are more in depth in sims 4
the apartment in sims 4 are not buildable but they're better then they were in 3
with the singing skill they can sing while playing
Vampires are some of the best we ever had with more power then ever before
its true we don't have bands yet but that dosn't mean we won't

Because they want to piece meal the game and the bottom line is people are happy to pay for it. (Not meant as a criticism, just stating a fact) I don't think its okay, I know lots of others don't think its okay but plenty of people are okay with it.

@comicsforlife Sims in the sims 3 can also sing with a guitar. They can busk too.

The sims 3 acting career had fame opportunities attatched. Sometimes for example you had to give out flyers for your latest movie. There was other fame opportunities like having to make an appearance at a certain dance club. None of which were rabbit holes.


Of course it wasn't a fully active career but then Late night didn't just add in acting. It added in a new world, four new skills, four hidden skills, New game play objects, New venues (including clubs which you could only get into once you were well known enough. It added in a new life state and to be fair the movie career had two branches like all the Sims 4 careers do. It had a fame and reputation system and annoying paparazzi. All that remains to be seen is how the Sims 4 implements those as features.

The point is the sims 4 acting career should be more in depth as its the fourth version of the game and considering its the main attraction of the expansion. It's also as been pointed out lacking things like bands although I do appreciate your sims in regular careers can get famous. But acting is the main focus, in late night acting was one of many features so I'm not sure the comparison is fair and we can our wait and see how then acting career is implemented. I will be happy and consider buying it if the acting career isn't a big checklist of grind ala the get to work careers and if the reputation system and fame system is decent. (Not everyone becoming famous because they briefly knew their next door and had a conversation with them once)

I'm more interested in the reputation system as I'm hoping that will actually bring about meaningful consequence for the game.

I guarantee they are waiting to do an entirely separate gamepack or stuffpack entirely for musicians to milk more money from the concept than they did before. They're adding the ability to form bands and stuff via patch so i guess getting famous performing will have to do for now. The EP is just about getting the fame mechanism in to the game really.

That sounds awesome. What did you get to do as an actor in TS3?

We're talking about the fame system here, which, according to gurus, is the main focus of the pack, yet absent from the trailer of what seems to be The Sims 4: Get Acting. And if it's anything like GTW's careers, it'll only be remotely entertaining for the first play-through. The Sims Studio really doesn't design careers, even acting careers, with much replayability. For instance, if I make 2 Sims, both doctors, they will be unable to show up to work at the same time, I will be doing the exact same interactions when the game basically tells me how to play, and they will move up the ladder in the same exact way.

You can ignore the suggested actions and do whatever you want your doctor to do. You're not tied into that feature. And your sim will progress, not as quickly, but progress nonetheless.

That's not the solution at all. Ignoring the constrictive, anti-creative check boxes in the corner of the screen will barely promote your Sim once, and you will also be locked out of special career-related interactions because of it. Not to mention a Sim will pretty much die before they max the career, so this is pretty much the opposite of how the career is supposed to be played.

Imagination and ignoring bad gameplay design doesn't fix a thing.

Every game you buy has it's own rules and restrictions on how gameplay works. That's the contract you enter into when you buy a game. If you don't agree with all that, don't buy the game. If you think you can do better at creating games, learn how to do it and create a better simulation game. Failing that, apply to be a Game Changer and try to make this game in your image. If you're not willing to do either, then keep posting the negatives you want changed but aren't willing to change yourself and I'll keep posting all the positives for those that want real information about the pack. Every game has its own rules and restrictions on how gameplay works, true. Not all of the time are the rules and restrictions fun and exciting to manage. And a game telling me what to click, exactly when to click it, is a terrific example of a badly designed system in my eyes -- and that, in essence, are, objectively, what The Sims 4's GTW careers are like. The vet career is pretty different, and better received from the community. I wonder why? Hmm.

Nobody has, or should have, to become a game changer to influence change in the game. The forums exist for the community to primarily share gameplay experiences, provide feedback, and influence game development. It's okay when somebody doesn't find your favorite game to be as perfect as you think it is :)

Telling people to ignore how the game is designed to be played if they don't like it does not qualify as 'real information'. The bulk of your post I've quoted is very arrogant and dismissive.

I agree, telling a sim to talk about work with colleague or take a sample multiple times a day becomes boring very quickly and doesn’t offer much replay value hence why I fear the acting career is the same.

I agree also that people shouldn’t have to apply to be game changers to see positive change in the game and many of the things we have had changed is nothing to do with the game changers influence, For example the ugly ball pit was changed after community feedback.

And @Dannydanbo you missed my point, I said it’s not Fair to compare Late night to get famous, I wasn’t directly comparing the acting career to the get famous acting career I was pointing out that one has a sole focus on one thing and one has a focus on a variety of things. But as the pack isn’t actually out yet no one can say with full confidence the new pack has more to do overall and is a more fun fleshed out experience overall base do on a very short trailer.
