Verdemar is cute. I heard it was based off of the Azores. Having been there, I can see it, though the homes and deco houses feel more stylized. It's definitely more of a loose inspiration. I haven't been to most of the islands, but from where I've been, I do get a lot of Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel.
Here you have the beach and boat area, several groups of buildings boxed in and kept in tight proximity to each other (Verdamar feels less "tight," though,) and some patterned walkways.
This spot in particular reminded me of that city hall building in Ponta Delgada, where you had the statue of Archangel Michael in a little reflecting pool. Verdemar also having a statue in a reflecting pool is probably just a coincidence; they're not exactly rare sights. But it's still pretty fun and made me think of the city.
EDIT: Actually if it's not the Azores, it could be Vila Nova de Gaia from the mainland. Ponta Delgada isn't as tiered as Verdemar, but Gaia is.
