They would be entertaining if they did stuff that Sims ACTUALLY did in the game, like taking their dishes and washing them in the bathroom sink. The only one that's not misleading is that one where the guy's eating his meal on the toilet in the living room while watching TV.
Amen! I'm all for multitasking, but why are they obsessed with doing everything whilst on the loo? It's my knitting sims favourite place to craft!
I am an admin on an amateur humor/satire wiki...let's say there is lots of toilet humor there because it is EASIEST to do. Heck, we had a sort of parody of a Fisher Price logo with a very juvenile slogan on it involving cussing (FP made us remove it). The point was that it really doesn't require an adult mentality to curse, or use base toilet humor. Using the kind of strong language a drill instructor might use does not, in itself, make anything funny. Humor takes work. A LOT of work. And more refined forms of humor....take considerably more work than basic toilet humor. Even the thing with the mermaid in the tub brushing the teeth was supposed to be funny. But...perhaps the marketers could have benefited from HTBFANJS (how to be funny and not just stoned). That acronym is also on the internet, by the way, and if you find it, you may find a satire writing guide. Also...you may see a different word on the S that usually means a different thing, if you feel like looking it up, but in the end, it amounts to much the same thing. By the way, how to be funny and not just "plum" works well here too, given we all know the context of that here.
