Unlocked Items Don't Transfer?

I was in the same saved game. Never left it but when I changed households, the items were locked in that household. In other words what I unlocked in my Paxton Household didn't show as unlocked in another household, Burton. Both families, same saved game.

I think what OP means is they are locked in another family on the same save. FYI they'll relock when the person who unlocked them dies unless they changed it. The item unlocking seems a bit meh at the moment.

This is the worse part about the game. Having to unlock everything every time you switch to a different household under the same exact file.

I assumed that's how they worked as soon as I spotted them.
If you just want all the things all the time, I'm pretty sure there is a mod to unlock it.

I still wish they'd just put it under the buy debug cheat.

EA Games and Maxis, that is so flipping ridiculously retarded that I almost want my money back. ALMOST.

Don't see how it's any different from lockable items in the past. The only bad decision on the developers end this time was to put them in the global buy/build menus.

It is, in other PC Sims games we've never had this sort of thing.
Sure earn aspiration points to buy additional items. But we're talking beds, stoves, couches, etc or better yet, half the buy catalogue.

If I unlock something in a saved game then for that file it should be available for that FILE.

It doesn't really bother me. I think of the career perks as a reward for that sim and decide if it should go in their house or they should sell it. It makes sense that a sim only interested in games and computers wouldn't really care about getting a special art easel and so on.

In the Sims 3, there are a few items you can unlock for your career. They're hidden, and there are only a couple. Like the refrigerator for reaching the top of the culinary career or the mad scientist thingy that allows you to add moodlets to things. The actor's trailer and the directors chair are another two. That's fine. But having so many things be unlocks is silly. If you want to be a painter, if you want the best easel, you have to join a certain career branch? That just strikes me as silly and quite limiting.
