Userstartup.cheat in TS4? Enabled cheats from the start of the game

Hi, all. I'm a newcomer to TS4, I've been playing TS2 all these years. I have a question that I couldn't find an answer to online. I'm sure a lot of you remember userstartup.cheat file from TS2. Does anything like that exist in TS4? Even a mod? Anything?

For those of you who aren't familiar with this, it's a file where you type all the cheats you want to use throughout the gameplay, so they are all already enabled every time you start the game, so you don't need to type the cheats whenever you want to use moveobjects or testingcheats, even.

Also, I'm sorry for posting this to General Discussion, I have no idea where to post it, and for some reason, a lot of TS4 categories are greyed out (probably because of my account inactivity). So, I'm sorry if someone has to move this elsewhere.

  • Sims 4 is different on how the cheats work. You can activate the cheats, and they will stay on, unless...
Your sim (and you) leave the lot (loading screen) and go to another place. Then it will turn off when you go to a new location. I think this has something to do with Sims 3. In that game, when you turned on the testing cheats and left it on, it would cause the game to mess up, and the same for the move objects cheat.

Now with that said, there is the MCCC mod that will unlock a whole lot of cheats, including the debug cheats, and you don't have to keep turning them on. Here is a link to it.

If you have any questions regarding this mod, they do have a very good (live chat) help system. Also keep in mind that in a couple of weeks that all Script Mods will be disabled, because of some huge patch that is going to happen. But with the person who does this mod is very good at keeping it updated.
  • Oh, wow, I didn't know the cheats turn off after loading screens, and I certainly didn't know about testingcheats messing up TS3.

Actually, I've come across MCCC today and I read the documentation so I understand what it's about, I think it's similar to how the cheats worked in TS2 when you accessed them through the mailbox and the likes. Could you just please tell me if I can only download modules I'm interested in or do I have to download them all? I understand I need to have MC Command Center for it to work at all.

Also, when I enable cheats, am I safe from messing up the game (like what you mentioned happened in TS3) because the game automatically turns them off after traveling? Or are there known ways I can still mess it up with cheats?

Thank you for replying to me with such an elaborate answer! :)
  • When you have the cheat enabled in TS4 it will stay enabled as long as you are still playing the game even when traveling. The cheats in TS4 do not cause the game to mess up the way they did in TS3 so you should be able to leave the cheats on and play without a hitch.

On the other hand yes MCC is a very helpful mod and it can help with skill cheats as well as stopping annoying actions.
  • @BMSO I'm thinking of using it when I get comfortable enough with the game. Thank you for that info!
  • @monia_vuk I don't think you have to add them all to your game, but they do come in two separate downloads One is called MC Command Center, and there is another we can't talk about, but it starts with a W. Under the documentation tab will explain what everything does. I know you don't have to add all of them, but I can't remember which ones are the ones that must be included. You can ask someone over there to find out for sure. You also have the ability to turn things off with this mod also. You don't want sims getting married or having children, there are settings for this as well, depending on the module you have.

What I like to do is use a tester save to work on my settings. Once you set your settings for one game save, they will work for all your other game saves. Also when there is an update, there are a couple of files that have your saved MCCC information to carry on to the next patch level, so you don't have to adjust your settings all over again.
  • @LaBlue0314 I know the mod you're referring to, although it took me awhile to guess lol. I've been using MCCC since the creation of this thread and I love it. I'm still very careful with it because I've only discovered a small part of it, but I hope that will change soon.
Anyway, thank you so much for all that information!

MCCC is a godsend of a mod. I love it. Just be certain to remove your Mods folder before you update your game. Rumor is the Patch is due out next week. Deaderpool will be quick to update his mod so we can all reinstall it afterwards. If you want to protect yourself, go into Origin and turn off auto-update for your game.

What? Why can’t we, it’s just called the Woohoo Module, it’s only separate so kids can’t get to it if their parents don’t want them to. If you’re talking about the mod we ACTUALLY can’t talk about, that isn’t apart of MCCC. That’s a separate mod...
