Vault owner died - how to access his values?

I made a mistake... a sim had a vault on a community lot. Then he died, and a few sim years later I remember the vault and wonder how his heir can get access to the §60.000 that was stored in the vault?

I heard there is a way to break in, is that an easy task? The heir is actually semi criminal, so it could work. Or will cheating the money to the heir be the only way?

I was surprised that the vault still says the name of the sim, as if he was not dead.
