Venue Requirements - Why None For Residential?

Whenever you build a venue, there are requirements that must be fulfilled before it's considered finished and allowed; for example, a gym requires equipment, showers, toilets, sinks etc. Why doesn't a residential property have requirements? A home needs a kitchen to make food, bedrooms to sleep, bathrooms to get refreshed and entertainment to stop boredom.

  • That would certainly help the developers not to forget essential elements in their pre-made houses, like it happened to the toilets in Get Famous, but... Why would you as a player want even more restrictions in the game? If I want to play as a homeless person with nothing but a tent in a park, I don't want the game to ruin it for me by also requiring a fully functional shower and a TV there.
  • I personally don't want any restrictions on ANY lot. I should be able to make any lot into anything I want it to be by placing down interactive objects.

Where I live, when you buy a house, it only comes with the kitchen counters and sink (sometimes appliances if you had that written into your contract), a functional bathroom with sink, toilet, and tub or shower. They are not furnished with any type of furniture or entertainment gadgets.
  • Personally, I wish there was a way to have a three-for-one Venue.
    For example:
    Nightclub/Lounge/Karoke Bar
    Library/Museum/Art Center
    Cafe'/Bar/Restaurant
    Gym/Spa/Park
    National Park/Generic/Special Lot

Don't fence me in, lol. I don't want any restrictions on any property. Ever. Requirements are why I don't enjoy TS3 or TS4 as much as TS1 and TS2. (Just one of many) I like to build multi lots where Sims use all parts of what I added. I like to make Sims live on vacant lots sometimes, or real shacks, with ugly broken decor that doesn't make them happy. TS4 has too many restrictions already, don't be giving them ideas that residentual properties should have requirements, too. :o
No, my Sims don't need a kitchen if I intend to starve them later, restrictions hinder story telling and gameplay, always.
  • I am happy we don't have restrictions. When I want to start a new game I sometimes have my sims start out with literally nothing. They have to get food by using public grills, use a public toilet or pee bush. They have to buy everything by earning money. Besides, my spellcaster doesn't need a stove when they have a couldron. My mermaid sleeps in the ocean so she doesn't need a bed, ... A check list would be convenient for building but it should not be a requirement.
  • I'd be happier if they took off those community lot restrictions instead.

Residential lots shouldn't have restrictions because not everyone will have certain items. Homes don't need any of these items listed:

I've had outdoorsy types and dystopian types and they make food on a grill or campfire (sans kitchen), sleep in a tent and pee in a bush. Entertainment can be found in a variety of ways so no need to "require" a computer or tv etc. You can also allow the sims to get bored. All of the needs don't always have to be full on green. It's preferred for sure, but it's definitely not a requirement for the sims life or death. (Unless of course the need is hunger ;) ).

Have the residential lots unrestricted allows us to tell vastly different stories and it's not all a blue suburban with a white picket fence world.
