The only issues I've personally had from the kit is that my sim will stop doing something right in the middle to vacuum. It's annoying, but I can deal with it. And for some reason, my sim was unable to vacuum in her room, maybe because there wasn't enough room? And she couldn't vacuum up certain dust bunnies. But if she vacuumed in that vicinity, it would just disappear. Also, my sim hadn't really befriended any dust bunnies, but still was making a little money from them? I think. So I feel like there could be a little tweaking done, but nothing that makes the game unplayable or unbalanced.
You can stop autonomous vacuuming by live dragging the vac out of your sim’s inventory. They cannot use the vac if it’s not in there. Sometimes the dust bunnies spawn in awkward locations and you can’t reach them, lol kind of like real life. But you can move them by turning build mode on, also I have found if they’re still there after one go with the vac, if you ask your sim to “vacuum around” a second time they generally disappear and then you can just cancel the rest of the action.
I will say...and I cannot believe I am, that after playing this for now four days straight, *sigh*, yes, they could adjust the tuning on dust accumulation to slow it down by a day or two, and the cash flow. It’s fun to have the bunnies find small bits of cash autonomously but every 20 seconds or so is a bit too much, maybe once or twice a day is enough. As for the major big ticket items those only get found when asked for and it’s random chance what they find...but maybe it should be like a 1 in 10 or 20 chance they find priceless Salvadoran gold. Though, I personally have only had that happen once in four irl days myself and more frequently when asked to find treasure I get like $100 Simoleans or so. But I have seen several posts where big loot occurs too frequently for many.
ETA: I also think that removing the tick in the settings to toggle the system off should shut it off entirely. Dust accumulation, bunnies, fiends, sparkles, buffs all of it. Vacuums should still be useable with it off, but this way people who don’t want to deal with the other effects and simply use the machines as a story telling mechanic.
Overall I absolutely love the kit, but yes, as much as I hate retuning in packs because it generally ends up completely killing the main features this one could use some gentle tweaks.
Sorry to say but they can grab the vacuum and dustbuster from anywhere it is placed and use it autonomously. I a constantly dragging them out of my sims inventory and no matter what room she is in the house she will magically grab them from wherever I have placed them.
One person suggested making a tiny “broom closet” and placing the vac in there behind a locked door so it can’t be used unless instructed. It seems a single tile closet would suffice. You can also try getting a storage chest or a cardboard box from Eco Living, from misc storage and put it in there? I can’t say for sure it will fit especially an upright, (I am just now booting up my desktop to play.) but if it does that will store it away from being used before you command it.
Definitely worth a try
@simm621 neither vacuum fits in the storage chests or boxes. So a locked closet is the way to go.
