Wallpaper backsplash

I was looking forward to having backsplashes for my counters in the recent kitchen clutter kit. Unfortunately the lighting is terrible on them. You can distinguish each panel easily. So I am back to wallpapers with tiles. After some testing I found a few wall tiles that actually have matching wallpapers so here are my findings.

Base game tiles with matching wall paint (name of the blank wall is pure expression) This basegame wall  is acutally one of my favorites

Jungle adventure tiles: very colorful tiles and walls, this game pack offers a matching set (except for the blue wall)

Parenthood: I never realised but all of the parenthood tiles have a matching wall.

Combination basegame wall tiles that look decent enough with jungle adventure wallpaper (name superstucco)

Unforturnately two of my favorite wall tiles don't have a matching tile free wall. But in those cases a column in the wall can offer a solution. You can either try to mach as close as possible or use a color scheme with a notably different color.

What kind of combinations do you guys like? Do you put tiles around an entire kitchen? Do you only do one wall with tiles or don't bother with tiles at all?

If they didn't give you retro vibes, I'd have done something wrong in my game. LOL 😀

  • I, sometimes, use tiles for the walls in kitchens and bathrooms. Easier to clean, in RL. Why don't our Sims scrub a wall once in awhile? I would most certainly expect a Neat-Nick to launch into such a task. LOL I mean, if mopping up a puddle on the lawn isn't beneath them . . . Just sayin.'

  • JesLet40 your kitchens look very nice. Retro in a realistic way, not over the top. The fake stone pillar in the first picture is a nice way to give a border to the kitchen space.

  • Interesting thread.  I don’t often concentrate on kitchens a lot.   But there are some great ideas here. I do remember doing an apartment kitchen in bright yellows and oranges using tiled, or partially tiled walls that came with home chef hustle. I used matching furniture for the connected living room. I remember I used a combination of cabinets and shelves, and found a nice wall clock to accent with.  The bright colors made it a fun apartment to play in.

i will be moving my painters family soon from a San Myshuno apartment to a residential/small business that I made close to one of the beaches in tartosa.  This thread has helped a lot with what to do for the house kitchen area.  My emotional painter has plans for it to be a small business with an art gallery, art sales, art lessons and  a small coffee shop.  It will be a place my other  sims ( I have a large rotation ) can go to the nice beach area on vacation or for the day, and have a place, were they can walk up the hill and have a bite to eat in an open air coffee shop, and be able to view and buy paintings, or take an art lesson.  I already made the business part ( looks like there are 3 different businesses/Residentials ).  I was trying to think how I could make the art gallery part when I usually play with walls partially down, with only back walls up. I decided I would use the tallest partial walls in the middle so the painting gallery walls would not disappear, that worked pretty well, but something was off….. after looking at this thread I realized I need to put pillars on the ends of those inside walls!   Now that my painter has enough to move, I will have to get them over there.  This thread has made me excited to work on their kitchen too!  Thanks for the great pictures and ideas!

GalacticGal Neat-Nick post…..This made me think, I rarely play a lazy sim, and just realized they never wash a dish, they don’t flush the toilet on their own, and get tense if you make them clean…. lol!  This sim is also clumsy, and when practicing meditation and levitating almost falls off her cushion…. It makes me laugh.

  • Sometimes even using many different wallpapers doesn't feel so wrong
my favourite kitchen is probably still this one I built for Landgraabs 😂

the wall behind oven is bricky because the opposite side of that wall has fireplace
and I think I did the wall on -> side of the fridge in same paneling as the living room
which tied the two spaces together nicely :)
