Weather and Outside Electronics

Is there some way to keep electronics from breaking when exposed to the elements? Without using mods

I built a one grid square room then destroyed it, so only one square of ceiling was left. That one square keeps my electronics from breaking.
  • Cool solution @Rouensims .

I have made builds for outdoor living that have several roof-on-poles style pavilions. They are rooms where I put columns at the corners, replaced the walls with spandrels, and added a roof. I think it's realistic to shelter electronics under there. (And for HEAVEN'S sake, the poor piano; though the game doesn't object to rainfall on pianos, I do.)

Alternatively you could just put those electronics out in the rain and develop the handiness skill of the super-handy super-sim of your choosing every time it rains...

I have a wall speaker outside a house facing a pool. If you go into build mode and pull the roof so there's an overhang it won't get wet.

I want to test something. There are overhead items that can act as shelters. They are miscellaneous items that might work without building a roof.

You can actually build roofs by dragging them from existing rooms. I created a green house with a tiny home by placing columns and dragging the roof from where I placed the house.

I did try an object awning over an outdoor espresso machine in the past, it broke quickly. I think the shelter needs to be a building, not an object.

Great question. I do the same thing as Rouensims does. At any of my open-air nightclubs you'll always see a jukebox tucked away with 3 walls and a roof around it
