- IF your hired chef actually makes the wedding cake, put it in your inventory!!! I left it where it was and had too much faith in the sims to not touch it....I couldn't get gold on the event because the couple getting married couldnt cut the cake...because someone else ALREADY DID.... :|

Wedding caterers - event caterers in general - are hit or miss. But as far as I know, no, they won't make the cake. You need to supply that yourself, if you want one.
It's supposed to be that when you plan a wedding and hire a chef, the chef will bake a wedding cake upon arrival. But it's broken now, or very unreliable. I never know if the chef will bake, or even show up. - janyses5 years agoNew Observer

Or just add the wedding topper. No one will touch cake that has a wedding topper or birthday candles. - jeni28105 years agoNew SpectatorI have mixed feelings about this. I like the randomness of what happens, but at my last wedding, there was a chef station at the venue, the caterer was busy making all sorts. Not being entirely sure they could bake a cake I added a normal stove and counter, only then to discover the cake in the fridge. So added a suitable table, but couldn't drag it out, so had to get the bride to place it in world, waiting so I could immediately add the topper. She stopped halfway and put it on the floor and by the time I realised , it was almost eaten!
I usually have a birthday cake in the inventory, in fact I managed to age up most of my 7 toddlers with the same chocolate cake!
Differently priced wedding tiers (pun intended) would be a great feature. - WaytoomanyUIDs5 years agoRising ScoutI would say they don't make a cake more often than not. And sometimes when they do make one hey put it in the fridge or on the floor. Which is why I always have one of my sims make a cake beforehand put a wedding topper on and bring it with
- This has been consistent since the start of the game for me. They are really hit or miss. I tend to have my sims make the meals themselves during the event. Then again I also always make sure wherever I throw events it has a full kitchen for them to use.
