Wedding Stories and Dine Out fixed?

I have Dine Out and have noticed that eating at a restaurant barely works these days where previously I used to be able to have fully functional dinner experiences, now things just seem broken. Food takes forever if at all!! Sims won't stay put nor will they eat food if it does arrive, they won't interact with each other etc. Wedding stories however, I don’t have but I've heard nightmare reviews about it.

So my question is, have either of these received a fix and is MWS worth buying/trying?

  • I have both packs, but I am not sure what is fixed and not. I had few problems with either, but then it's a while since I played them in detail.

I know there was a problem with a restaurant chef just hanging outside, but it could easily be fixed by "reset sim". It has since been fixed in a patch.
Recently I sent a couple to dine out, the restaurant was semi-packed and everything went quite well. Maybe it took a good 4 hrs, but as long as they start the visit a bit early, I don't mind if it takes all evening.

For weddings I never intended to play a wedding event with that much focus on details, so my weddings normally have just a few of the possible features. Then it works out quite well. If you try to pack all options into one event, I think you will be asking for trouble. It's a steep learning curve, and I prefer focusing on other sides of that pack than throwing the perfect wedding anyway :) I like the pack, and especially if you also play celebrities, there is quite a few items/features to use outside the wedding event. I think the pack has been patched once, but I wouldn't be the right simmer to judge it :)

For both packs I think some reported problems might be caused by the lot. They need space to do certain things, and how stuff is positioned might even affect the effectiviness of a restaurant.
  • I've still yet to throw a wedding so no input there.

I have had several dinner parties at restaurants and all went well. Food arrived promptly and sims stayed seated.
  • I don't have MWS, but DO works well for me if I ensure that I 1) leave myself at least 4 game hours for the meal and 2) pause immediately upon loading the lot and click the host station to get seated. That way, my party is usually seated first and the meal tends to go more smoothly.
  • With Dine Out I agree that it helps to pause the game and then click the host station immediately on entering the lot. I have also always redesigned my restaurants to have at least two chef stations and two waiter stations with clear paths around each so there are no routing issues. Occasionally I provide extra dishwashers too. I find two chefs and two waiters keep things humming along nicely,

How do you do two waiters?
  • Wedding stories might have minor bugs left it was really bad for me which is rare, but it is almost perfect now that is I haven't tested all the activities but worth it whether you want to do everythin for a nice wedding once then only skip to the wedding for most other relationships.
I never really had problems with Dine out, sims went when they were gonna hang out so it didnt matter how long the waiter took. I would usually pause and select the table I want or replace a table in build mode it it was taken, then reset the chef keeping it nice and smooth. Worth having, but that's me.

    Two waiter stations.

I also am in group where DO has not ever had major problems, if not counted common bugs (like it was when chef stayed outside. But resetting fixed that)
  • For restaurants it helps to check out skills and traits of chefs and waiters. Low skill waiters will drop food, slob waiters will leave dirty dishes on your sims clean table, chefs with low skills won't be able to prepare certain dishes, etc. Make sure you have two cooking stations so you have two cooks, and 2-3 waiting stations placed around the restaurant, so waiters can easily clean tables. Put the host station in an easily accessible location so there are no routing issues. Last time I played I had issues with sims getting up from the table once their food arrived and eating it standing up in the middle of the restaurant. Not sure how to solve that.
