Weddings, Honeymoons & Parties

I have downloaded several wedding venues from the gallery, which I set to generic when I download them. When I'm ready for a wedding, I change the chosen venue to lounge (or nightclub if there's a dj booth on the lot and I want a free dj, either way I get a free bartender). I usually max out the guest list so there aren't very many random walk-ins since the venue is crowded enough with the invited guests.

I generally have the couple move in together at least a few hours ahead of the wedding so I can control both for the party. I don't schedule the wedding on the calendar, but I pick the date based on a combination of weather and the family schedules. I just throw the party at whatever time I feel like on the chosen date. I usually don't have a caterer, and have a household member bake a cake in advance and take it along, and set up the buffet table and sometimes the fountain at the venue. I have the bride(s) and/or groom(s) set their chosen wedding attire as their second formal outfit so I can easily switch to it at the beginning of the party. I've used several dresses that come in white (red for vampires) as well as those obviously intended as wedding dresses, and tuxes in multiple colors.

My current save is mostly the sim in my profile pic and her nine children and their families, so most weddings are strictly family affairs. There's more family than there are guess slots in the party planner. Usually the spouse that's marrying into the family spends part of the party introducing themselves to their new in-laws.

My sim Athena just remarried this past weekend, to Geeta Rasoya. The wedding was in Athena's house, a remodel of the Old Salt House in San Myshuno.

Earlier this year her son Finnian married Morgan Fyres in a mansion-turned-event center in Del Sol Valley.

So I just had my second wedding in my BACC. It's been a more elaborate affair than the first couple because there's a few community lots and more money around now. However, it got me wondering how much detail do you guys go into with your weddings? Especially following on from the Where do you have your sims propose? thread.

For this one, I set up the date on the calendar when I could see there was going to be dry weather (hopefully!) because it's an outdoor venue. On the day, I set up new formal outfits for the bride and groom, then had the bride bake the cake. Added it to her inventory and about an hour before the wedding party was due to start, I sent them over there.
Now, I'd already set up the wedding corner of the venue, so all I had to do was put the cake on a table, wait for the guests and away we go.
Once they'd got married, Francis cut the cake, the happy couple shared a slice and everybody started chatting to each other. I had the groom's sister, her husband and their three toddlers present, so it sort of doubled up as a family reunion, since Francis hadn't yet met his niece properly.

I would ordinarily probably give them a honeymoon but these two are not the camping or roughing-it-in-the-jungle types (plus the bride's expecting) so I might give them a delayed trip at a later date.

Good spots to propose and marry are at one of the beaches in Sulani,On the Lighthouse in Brendleton Bay and that wedding arch near the waterfall in Windenburg at the haunted meuseum location.

I love my weddings......

I edit the colours of the flowers, vary the time of day, spend ages designing the clothes of the bride and groom and their makeup and hair plus their family and friends. MCCC and cc are life savers in this process. Sometimes I bring a cake and use the banquet table to cater and other times I have a kitchen venue and most times the caterer is reliable. I have big dinners, dance floors with DJs and have some sort of honeymoon for my sims depending on their budget, personality and pre-existing children. I have a wedding boutique and love to screen shot my sims shopping for wedding things.

I hardly play weddings in detail, but it certainly is something to think about doing more.

One of my favorite parties was the high school graduation party for my twins which was held in their large apartment.

I dressed them up, plus I went from house to house and dressed up EVERYONE in the neighborhood that was coming. I used the lot trait mod that forced everyone to wear party clothes.

I made a couple of clubs just for the party and started a club gathering, and then on top of that, I invited over individual guests. I locked the bedroom doors to non-household members so everyone would stay in the main living area.

When some people would leave, I'd invite other individuals over or start a different club gathering, and that way the house stayed full for the entire party. They had a fairly large circle of friends and family.

So many people came that mom had to cook up some more stuff in the middle of the party. You can't see it in the pictures, but for the computer desk in the living room, I just turned the chair the opposite way so nobody could get on the computer but they could use it as a seat.

Okay this was my first TS4 wedding ever. My main sim was a teenage girl, and her older brother married the Willow Creek librarian at the Museum.

I wanted bridesmaids, but I had just started playing this family and they didn't have any friends, so I dressed up my main sim as a bridesmaid and then grabbed some random townie who happened to be there and put the same dress and necklace on her.

There was also a younger brother in the family, so he was the best man, but there were no other groomsmen. I color coordinated. I wanted their outfits to look somewhat hideous, LOL.

I wanted a pic that looked like them walking down the aisle after the ceremony, but I couldn't get the best man to cooperate, plus there were no spectators sitting in the chairs.

They had their reception right there in the garden and cut the cake in the porch area at the back of the museum. They didn't go on a honeymoon because they weren't my main sims, so I only wanted to capture the part that my main sim was involved in.

In my country we have three parties in June, full of food and drinks typical of the season, stories of joy and terror told at the stake, and lots of music. In addition to some superstitious rituals, very funny, to get boyfriend, job or happiness.
This year, I gathered the whole family of my sims and had one of those backyard parties. I liked the result and made a little movie and took a lot of pictures.
