Werewolf Fate/Love System?

I love this pack, but I don't love the fated mate system and there seems to be no way around it unless you never flirt (autonomously or not) with another werewolf.

I have a serial romantic weresim and he has the romantic trait. I have another female weresim who has a secret child with a human sim. I like figuring out for myself who my sims will end up with. I go through the serial romantic aspiration a lot and have bachelor/ette challenges often so I can find sims that I genuinely like together. It's a large part of my gameplay. I never *ever* start with a married couple.

So my serial romantic and secret child weresims were at the bar, he was flirty, they just met and he complimented her appearance autonomously and they were instantly fated with like a 10% friendship meter and a sliver of a pink meter. Now both get stressed when in romantic encounters with any other sim. She can't interact with her sons father without getting tense and my serial romantic is... ruined.

How can I cheat this out because I'm not one to ask for something to be nerfed.

I can clear the sentiment but cannot clear fated mate from the relationship panel.

I tried to clear marriages
I cleared all sentiments
I tried asking to just be friends
I tried the modify relationship cheat for fated mate sentiment
I tried making them enemies
I've searched everywhere for where this particular relationship is buried with no luck.

I don't want mccc or ui cheats just for this issue.
Short of resetting one of them to human and back to werewolf (not tried that yet) the only thing i found to help is to cheat in the carefree trait which knocks out tension since neither had enough reward points for it.

Is there any way possible to undo fated mate because I don't want every weresim I create or interact with to be fated upon first flirty encounter. That's just not how I play at all.

It does make romance with any other sim more difficult which is kinda nice but they're both fated and I had zero interest in them being a couple. None.

Edit: my pets don't even mate this quickly

I don't have the pack yet, so can't test this out for you. But if you're willing to try an experiment, what happens if you use the remove werewolf trait cheat (below) to turn one of the werewolves back into a human temporarily?

traits.remove_trait trait_occultwerewolf

Since fated mates requires both individuals to be werewolves, does changing one of them back to human remove the fated mates designation? And if you then turn that sim back into a werewolf with the "add werewolf trait (below) does the fated mates designation reappear, or is it gone?

traits.equip_trait trait_occultwerewolf

No idea if this idea would work, since I can't test it, but if you haven't tried this already, it might be worth checking out. Definitely make a backup of your save first though.

This instant fated mate thing gives a new meaning to "love at first sight" and I do wish it was a little harder. My teen wolf just met Jacob Volkov, flirted, and was suddenly fated. I feel it shouldn't happen this easily but if it did it should be like a mini quest where you have to prove it to be either true or false. At least then the player has a choice in who their wolves end up with.

That could be cool @Darkshadow608 because I'd at least like some option to be like welp no that "date" didn't seem like fate. I mean you have to prove yourself to be in a pack shouldn't you get a chance to prove if this so called fated mate thing is going to work out? I mean one flirty comment is wee fast

As far as I know it takes some pretending, which doesn't seem like an answer but it's not supposed to be an issue game wise. Story wise I throw it out unless I want it. For example, people say that Greg isn't supposed to have another mate but if this chick is dead I have no need to follow that, maybe it'll be a refresh point but unfortunately ignore is all I got about now. So he can move on with life as a special sim which means all the regular sims would be able to as well.

Yes! I feel like whoever your weresim flirts with first is their "fated mate" and that doesn't fit the idea I was going for. I was going to have my sim flirt and get to know a few others until she found her fated mate. But instead, it happened right away. I wonder if it's a bug that needs to be adrressed???

Originally it was said we could accept or reject a fated mate. I think of this as a bug and someone needs to make a post on AHQ.

The code for fated mate is set to give you a 50% chance EVERY time you run a flirt interaction with a werewolf. Lumpinou has a mod that changes it to once per SIM and reduces the chance to 15%. I imagine maxis made it like this so that it would be easier for a player to get a specific sim they wanted to BE your fated mate...and did not take into consideration the opposite effect on people who pair their sims up in a different way. How bad is the tense moodlet for flirting with a not fated mate?

Edit: that tense moodlet is pretty brutal, +3, oof. I wonder if when they said we can ignore the fated mate thing, what they really meant was "just bury the tense moodlet with a bunch of other happy moodlets that the game throws at you."

There is no option. It's as stuck in there as if they're related because you can't even clear it from the relationship panel unless you reset one Sim. Not sure if death actually changes it. There is no "getting rid" a fated mate like you can break up with a soul mate or divorce a spouse. You're more or less stuck with whatever the game decides and it's decision is pretty much the first werewolf they flirt with.

The tense moodlet pairs up with other tension (work usually) and anger (because wolf) and sadness (because guilty wolf) and uncomfortable (because fight with Greg or whatever) making that moodlet harder to bury and I kinda can't pretend it away as easily when my weresim is flirting semi angrily and feels like they're cheating. It's destroyed two of my sims. I don't enjoy this at all. I would have preferred the option to accept or decline a fated mate. I don't even really like, though it's something, a reduced chance. I fate all of my sims and it's a long process.

There IS a loot for REMOVING the fated mate trait, but I can't figure out where it's applied. There are also string references to defying fate in the marriage interactions at the arch and eloping, so I wonder if you need to marry the not fated mate to get the fated mate trait/relbit to go away?
