I haven't uploaded to the Sims 4 gallery, so I don't know if it makes a difference. But with 2&3 it did. On the Sims 2 site you earned stars which affected how much attention and thereby downloads you got. On the Sims 3 site you get a download and rec count which affect whether or not your studio gets culled. Both sites feature(d) lots that have lots of downloads/recs.
While it earns no money, who as a normal human being doesn't like getting recognition for something they spent hours working on?
