I figure as long as it's marked with the original creators name it shouldn't be a problem.
I've heard that if you load things into the My Library section .. they can be lost if you have issues and have to reinstall. They would also be lost if you switched to another computer after yours goes belly up.
I don't build.. I've downloaded many nice lots but normally have to pull out extra plants and decorations to put things in that my sims use during game play. If I spend a lot of time doing this I may just want to keep this lot safe for use in the future... and I have considered loading it to the community so that I don't have to do all that work again. I just want to play and I hate looking for a building for hours.
I don't think everyone is trying to steal peoples work and make a name for themselves off someone elses back. I'm sure there are some people that do that but I'd think the reputation would get out pretty quick if they were acting maliciously.
I keep thinking of Anne Rice not wanting fans to even write fanfiction based on her work.. I can't help it.
