I thought I would drop a short update on my latest modding WIP for my merfolk.
One thing I’ve 100% got nailed down is unlocking merfolk tails for all sims. I even figured out how to make it a default body part for human sims when bottoms get removed in CAS.
So I truly thought I could do the same with the ears, but it seems like the actual CAS assets aren’t as easy to find as I thought and the mods I’ve found and looked into only work for the child sims.
Most of the reason I’m doing so much to create CAS CC is because most of my “Merfolk” don’t have a “human form” so I’ve been trying to unlock CAS elements only usable in their mermadic form so they always have their mermadic form and all the CAS details added no matter what.
This has also been my work around to a swimming glitch that happens when I was using the cheat to trigger their mermadic form on land.
I go back and forth with the default tail for a body type cause it only defaults when no bottoms are added. Otherwise, a normally clothed sim would look as human as any other sim. I have not figured out a way to limit it to a single occult.

Been trying to work on CC. It’s a process. I’ve been able to create CC from the EA tails, and I kinda tinkered with the Neverland Mermaid Tails from Spinning Plumbob too. I told Spinning Plumbob when I did. I don’t have plans to share any CC I modified and I will never Modify CC without telling the creator or getting their permission.
I kinda feel like it would be easier if CAS items limited to the mermadic form were unlocked for the merfolk human forms. It would make sense things simpler.
In the end, I decided to redo screenshots I took of scenes with the Adukt Merfolk to make sure the pointed ears weren’t there since the underwater environments I simulate on land won’t support it without cheats that glitch their swimming. By giving my merfolk that only have a mermadic tail a tail in both their human and mermadic form. I haven’t needed to use the cheat that makes getting them to swim more jarring.
Granted, on land they have the whole walking around with a tail, but between the Pose Player, Expanded Mermaids Animations, and the T.O.O.L by twisted mexi, I still have an extremely easy time getting preferable screenshots.
Additionally, the way my merfolk are treading water more elevated from the surface is thanks to the T.O.O.L as well. I imagine that merfolk tails are stronger than human legs and treading farther above the water surface is just easier for them. If my merfolk are far enough from humans, they wouldn’t need to be so low to the waters surface.
I got inspiration from Disney’s the little mermaid that features merfolk gathering at the surface and treading at the same level above the surface.
So for my merfolk treading water higher above the surface would be a casual thing farther from humans and treading water lower to the surface would be closer to humans. Just thinking about how their location in the ocean might change their behaviors and influence the story.
