I have a family that lives in Sulani and I don't know how to find the merfolk. What area should I look for them in? I'd like to interact with them.

On Mua Pel’Am merfolk have a specific spot where they always show up and go swimming. It’s a long swim for human sims to get to.
There is a hidden system in game called Mer Woke. Basically, until your sims are aware of the existence of merfolk they will never see them.
Merfolk swim faster than normal sims, but the Mer Woke system will prevent you from ever seeing their tail.
It’s also why the cheat to use their tail on land bugs their swimming until your sims are reset.
The mer woke system builds into all merfolk two swim styles: one that is while playing the household and the other is what non-merwoke households see.
Adding a Merperson to a household, turning a member of the household into a mer, or using the “Ordinary” Conch Shell can make a household mer woke.
My customization for tails makes it so my merfolk always have their tail by default. It’s a quality of life thing I did so I didn’t have to keep cheating their tail on land and resetting their bugged swimming. If they always have their tail, it basically removed the hassle of dealing with using the cheats. So, for me, it’s my own customization that makes things look different.
