I also began the renovations of the high school, and I added a place for Alex to sneak off to that might help him get through the school day without getting forced back into his merform. It's not a mechanic of the Expanded Mermaid's Mod, but in my story, my merfolk that get the Dagger Walker Moodlet are on a time limit before they change back into their natural form with a "Forced Transformation." I sorta imagine that, while my merfolk can take a human form, it's not something they can sustain indefinitely. At least that's my idea around that.
Honestly, I wish there were more mechanics surrounding the hydration need that reinforced a merperson's need to stay hydrated. The "Forced Transformation" in the Expanded Mermaid's Mod would probably be the best route for that. That Mechanic is definitely a play on H2O and Mako Mermaids.
Anyways, I created a little pond that Alex can go to when he arrives at school to rehydrate and stave off turning back into a merboy on land.

It's just deep enough that he can still hide his mermadic identity from average humans, and after play testing, I learned that this will slowly rehydrate him. He can also collect the Sea Water needed for Sea Witch Potions, but I don't know if it's because it's a pond or because I used Brackish Water from Jungle Adventure for the pond.
