What Became of the Education Career?

Question

My Sim was a substitute teacher prior to the patch, but I had to have him quit because he no longer had the book in his inventory from which he is to grade the students. I had him quit. When I went to have him get a job, it was for the express purpose of having him go back into the field of education, so that the elusive book would return. Now, I can't seem to find Education among the other jobs/careers/professions listed.

Where did it go? Was this one of the changes in careers? I waited patiently for this career to finally be in the game. I'm quite annoyed at this moment.

Am I just not seeing it?

Is he still shown as being in the Education career? If so, it won't show up in the list of careers.

Does the Education Career have two branches? Did he already choose one of them before you had him quit? If so, the career will be listed as the branch you chose, not Education. Example: if you have a sim in the Culinary career and they selected the mixology branch, but then later leave that job (either by quitting or getting fired) they can rejoin the career but only in the Mixology branch. Culinary will no longer show up as an option for that sim, but Mixologist will.
