What Career(s) Do You Usually Go With, and What Are the Career(s) You Stay Away From?

I couldn't see anything posted about this, so if there is a discussion I'm sorry.

I usually go with Writer, Painter, or Culinary. Right now, I'm trying to use different careers because I want to know what they involve without watching anyone else play. I've only tried business so far, and there's not much. (That may be because my Sim hasn't been promoted, but I'll keep trying).

The career I stay away from is criminal. I don't know why, it actually sounds interesting, but I have anxiety about it. Another I stay away from is freelancer, because it seems to glitch. There's no way for me to turn in a job, and so I have to cancel it, not getting any money.

  • I always seem to go for Social Media, Detective and Freelance Artist. I usually stay away from criminal (I don’t tend to have many bad sims) or scientist and astronaut, but I’ve been curious about playing the latter two recently, so I may just try to!
  • I try to match them with the sims and their environments. For example, I'd rarely choose conversation, lifeguard, or fisherman when not living in Sulani. If a sim has a degree, I try to match a job to it.

However, I do tend to avoid the extra active ones unless it is my main sim or I just want to play one specifically. I am usually more focused on other overarching things than just their careers, so having to travel with them every day is too much of a nuisance unless I wanted to play it specifically. Plus having a bunch of Sims in different active careers is quite the hassle. (I nearly always play a household of eight.)
  • I usually stay away from rabbit-hole careers that don't have a work from home option. I only use those on background character sims I have no intention of playing.

My most common thing to do with sims I play a lot is no career at all, just collect, craft or grow stuff to sell. But I do play with the scientist, detective, and actor careers. I haven't tried the doctor or vet careers yet.

I also sometimes use the freelance careers and the careers that have the work from home option. Probably my favorite of those so far is the social media career. I have an evil-genius-goofball sim with a "chief of mischief" aspiration doing that one and it suits him so well. :naughty: :joy:
  • I always go for a normal career/profession, like Business, Lawyer, Teacher or Doctor.

If i'm bored I will try the unusual one like Special Agent or Social media just for kicks.
