What determines if a sim will say yes to drinking from them?

The higher the friendship level between them the more likely they'll agree - ideally I'd say you want them to at least be good friends. Best friends = very unlikely to fail.

I noticed with one vampire that i was playing, the only time it worked when my vampire asked and they accepted was the conversation had to be at pleasant, nothing else worked for that sim. That and their green relationship bar was pretty close to 100% positive.

Ahh, okay. Looks like I'll have to spend some time raising his relationship with human sims.

Based on my own experiences with my vamp sim, my theory is that the request may have a higher chance of success if the friendship level is high.

So, do lots of Friendly socials to butter the sim up enough for them to finally accept, and sometimes it's just plain persistence in Asking as well.

I don't think it's guaranteed, from what I have played so far.

It seems like the target sims have to have a level higher than aquantance or even basic low-level friend. Green bar has to be pretty high, and lots of socials interactions.

It seems even love interest leveled sims don't accept the bite.

For example, I had to raise the Friendship level for my Vamp's love interest and buttering him with lots of Friendly and Joking socials (and Romantic socials here and there) before he finally said yes to the bite.

I would try buttering the sims up with lots of different Friendly and Joking socials, and just keep asking as the friendship level goes up. :smile:

I don't know if there are other factors involved like if it's affected by traits or not, etc...

ETA: I noticed that my sims who had Good traits tend to be much more resistant to the bitting thing.

I've had my sim had at least two different humans give her a permission to drink from them, and their relationship was only about half way green. But that was in the beginning. Now the relationship is even higher, and neither of them let's my vampire drink from them anymore. I have no idea what's going on.

I was thinking of giving her the Guilty Drinker weakness, but I can't do it now. She won't survive on plasma packs and plasma fruit only, and I don't want her to feel guilty all the time.

From my experience, the relationship has to be high and the conversation has to be pleasant. If your sim is at the gym, it's pretty easy to find a "donor". Have your vampire sim be mentored in fitness, and once they stop working out do your thing. ;)

Maybe it's my Sims being weirdos, but I usually have to build up the conversation socials and making sure the target is in a really good mood before Asking.

To me, it's similar to gradually building up to a Romance---or getting to the point of a romantic Woohoo. (Lol.) You gotta get the Sims to warm up first.

Yes, I did, every time. But then, sometimes there were so many other sims around that having a very personal conversation wasn't possible, so I'm not completely sure.

You don't have to worry about your vamp dying from Thirst. They become Enraged instead, and will bite the first human they come across, but they won't die. If your vamp has the tamed thirst trait, then they won't become Enraged, they might just be uncomfortable instead. The main threat to vamps is the sun.

Apparently the carefree reward trait cancels out the negative stuff from guilty drinker. Got 3,000 reward points spare?
