I hired a Nanny to watch my baby while my sim went out with a friend. First of all, when my sim left, there was a pop up saying the baby was going to daycare, even though I hired a nanny, who was there when I left. I came back and the Nanny wasn't even there. Then he showed up about a sim hour after my sim had gotten home and said it was good to see me again. Needless to say the baby was screaming its head off, and I got a pop up saying she was starving. Do nanny's even stay at your house when you leave? What is the point in hiring a nanny when I leave if they also leave, and the baby goes to daycare. Also, why does my baby never get taken care of if my sim is not home.This is so frustrating. Its almost like you cannot leave a baby/ or toddler home ever. My sims have very active social lives, especially since they are celebrities. I just wish the nanny and daycare options actually worked, and that my sims babies would be taken care of properly, when parents are not home. Thanks for reading... Rant over..... For now..... Maybe.....

@stilljustme2 I don't play with mods or CC. I don't think babies are OK going to daycare.... My baby almost got taken away because it was starving when it came back from daycare. I wish I could just take them with me when I leave. I'm sure my sims fans would love to see the baby! Lol

You could use cheats to "hire" your own nanny or babysitter by just moving someone back and forth between households, since it's so easy to do that now. Just have a neighbor come watch your kid and move them in, then after your sim gets home, move them back to their own place. It's easiest if the sim being moved lives with someone else so that the game won't constantly be asking you if you want to sell or keep your furniture every time you make a transfer.The other way I get around this problem is just to have grandma come live with the family. If your sim doesn't already have a mom, you can go into CAS and make a baby with your sim and another random sim, then delete the random sim and age the person you created. Change the relationship so that the new sim is the parent now, and voila - grandma is coming to stay (and she has a family resemblance).I know a lot of people don't like to use cheats, but there are so many issues with this game that sometimes you have to just to normalize things out.

@QueenofMyshuno that's actually a great idea! I think I will just have one of the grandparents move in, at least while the baby grows up into a child. Once they age up they will be at school and I won't need to worry as much. Also, it will give them more time to socialize with grandma, since she only comes over so often.

Last time I used a nanny the system was really glitchy, so I haven't played them in a while. If you have mods, make sure they're all up to date.

I'd say that the nanny is more important when you have toddlers -- babies are fine going to daycare, but if you have toddlers the most important function is keeping the toddlers as playable so you can have them working on skills while the adults are away, and to give an adult presence for things like food and potty training.

I've never had that issue with daycare -- that's probably a bug. I have my mom Sim in the stylist career, and her fiance is pretty high up in the painter career so gets some frequent days off, so there's always someone home with the babies/toddlers. (I used to use a suite of mods that added work at home options to most of the base game careers; wonder if they got updated yet...)

I wish the nannies and butlers would get a revamp to make them more useful. I keep tying to use them only to fire them again. The idea behind them is great but the execution is sadly lacking.

Nannies are just useless in my opinion. I've had similar experiences with them and I'm starting to think they're just there to be an accessory for "rich" Sims who are too "busy" to take care of their own kids. The Nanny works while my sim is at home but yes, as soon as I leave, they're heading to daycare. (The daycare thing bothers me too. I feel like things just come too easy in this game).
