The above two posts are what Uni living is like in Ireland and the UK. People may live in dorms in the first year but generally move into shared housing in the final two years. They still use university campus facilities for different things, but also have the entire town/city at their disposal.
I would hope the club system can include different interests from university but things like fraternities and sororities do not mean anything here. Of course I can see how people used to them would feel the loss of them from the pack if they were not included. As long as they are optional and haven't taken away from something else that could have been included that would have appealed more broadly, I don't mind.
