What do you think of accidental deaths?

Also have you experienced any accidental deaths in The Sims 4? What happened? Did you accept the death or quit without saving?

💀 I don't want them in my game

💀💀 They happen too rarely

💀💀💀 We want lots more!

I remember only four accidental deaths over ten years that happened to played sims. Some townies have also died because of freezing. I think accidental deaths are too rare in The Sims 4 compared to older games and I'm excited about the chased by death trait coming with Life & Death EP!

The first accidental death was my sim's girlfriend Maki who died because of a lint tray fire. The fire started in a small room and instead of panicking she just dropped dead straight away. It seemed buggy, but I saved it anyway. My sim is still not over her death.

Second one was Pähkinä who was celebrating his YA birthday. He had a teenage embarrassed mood swing when he aged up and he died of it. Seems a bit silly, but I counted it as my mistake and I'm currently working on bringing him back with ambrosia.

My third accidental death was a vampire Amy Lee who came back from work without me noticing and just stood outside the house until she burned to ashes. Silly again, but I let her go. Her husband who was a spellcaster brought her back later on.

Fourth one was a merman Uljas. I got him a telescope to skill up some logic and then got a notice about a meteorite. Directed him inside to clean the fridge. Too bad there were also plates outside that he went to collect and... he got hit by a meteorite. That was my mistake I admit it and the game was working just fine.

  • Lately it seems I've had more than usual and I don't really like them. One was a Sulani drowning, very unexpected and with no warning. My sims often start to swim when I tell them to go home from Mua Pelam so from now on they will go somewhere else first. This sim was doing well in a career too but she was single so I accepted the death. The next one I did not because it happened to a family I've been playing for a while during my error code 0 time when it wouldn't save and I finally was about to get my couple married when she died of laughter. I didn't save. Another type of death I can't control is when my sim is visiting another family or location and they either catch on fire or freeze to death and you can't get to them in time.

It's been interesting to read how everyone sees accidental deaths and if there have been many. For me things have changed since starting this thread. I gave my vampire level 3 sun sensitivity and since then he has died maybe 4 or 5 times. Two of those were when he returned from work and game was on speed three, one was him taking out trashes, one I think was him admiring decor and one because I ordered him to ship some plopsy items. I clearly don't know how to play a sun sensitive vampire. I have pleaded successfully for his life a couple of times and the other times I exited without saving. My plan is they'll grow death flowers and be prepared to him dying, but right this moment the flowers are not in season and I'm not ready to lose him. I still think accidental deaths happen too rarely overall as this is a very specific case.

  • They happen fairly regularly in my game. I wouldn’t say too often or too little. I’m not that bothered by them although I do keep a close eye on my Sims with the goofball trait as death by laughter is the most common in my gameplay. That’s the only one I will exit and restart for lol, but the others are good to spice things up a bit!

Good list! I would add a vampire burning in the sun. It can happen very easily, especially is sun sensitive.

I had one accidental death when I didn’t realize that resuming a mechanism on the workbench when dazed will kill your sim.  I didn’t have a death flower at the time, so I exited without saving.

I’ve had a few NPC’s die early (young adults) without any notification.  The most recent one, I was able to find the house and get my spellcaster over there.  I’m not sure of the spell names,  but one summoned the spirit from the grave and the other was able to bring it back to life.

I didn’t realize sims can die from emotion.  One of them has daily outbursts from not knowing the purpose of life.  I’ve got a few death flowers on the ready.
