It's as good as any by my reckoning. Whatever keeps you inspired is the important thing. After all, you are playing for your sake and not anybody else's :)
It's also my stand point when it comes to the story's development. If you enjoy playing this save and things make sense for you, then just go for it. If you want it to live up to some kind of realism standard, then know this - it's a crazy world out there sometimes and very little is impossible.
