Forget the EP stuff. :P
I want deep social AI, attention to detail in animations and social interactions, more flexibility to build mode, and Sims that are clearly distinctive in looks and behavior. I also want crisp textures and even better lighting effects. Put the money in a deeper richer base game, not giving us EP stuff.
I want sims so enjoyable I could play them with just the base game alone. Of course I will want the other EP content later, but the sims and how they look and behave is more important to me.
This. My sims all seem pretty similar to me. The traits system is a great idea but there's no depth to it.
Also, relationships in sims 3 are so shallow. There's really no difference between a friend or a sibling in terms of interaction or recognition (with the obvious exception of romantic interactions). I want my sims family members to act like family members. A sim grandparent might never see their grandchild, and they don't care - they don't visit or make any attempts to spend time with relatives. A sim might not talk to their mother for weeks (a long long time in a sim's life), and yet the only consequence is a lowering of relationship score, which means very little in the long term.
Speaking of consequences, there need to be more of them! I've played families where a sim child doesn't have a single interaction with their parents, and there are no consequences for that as they can fulfil their social need elsewhere, such as with friends or neighbours. I want my actions in sims 4 to really matter. If a child has no positive interaction with a parent, it should show - perhaps they become delinquent, or emotionally unstable, or their grades drop. They might receive bad traits or need therapy. Maybe they run away. In sims 3, the only thing your sim child needs to do to have a successful childhood is get good school grades. They may roll a 'want' to talk to certain parent, but there are no consequences for not fulfilling the want.
Just make the game a little harder for me, please! :D I want to feel like my choices, my style of gameplay, makes an actual difference. I think there's such a thing as too much sandbox.
