What does "Polish to Perfection" do?

What difference does it make when I do use the interaction "Polish to Perfection" or "Clean Lightly"?
Does it mean my counters are messy to begin with? Or If I don't use the interaction long enough it *will* become visibly messy?

  • They did it to confuse the heck out of me when I want to have my sim clean something. But seriously, don't know why they changed it and wish they had just left it as simply "clean".
  • I'm just wondering why "Polish to Perfection" is an available interaction when counters, stoves, etc are visibly clean. Hmmmm this is confusing
  • It shows up even after I disabled Bust The Dust. It must have come in the pre-pack update. But as far as I can tell, it doesn't do anything except replace the 'Clean' command in the pie menu. :|
  • I never purchased Bust the Dust, and the "Polish to Perfection" has replaced "Clean" in my game, including in some instances where it doesn't make much sense. For instance when a Sim empties the toddler potty.

It is bugged for players that don't have Bust the Dust because the game naturally cannot access the test tuning files that came with that pack if you don't have it (and EA didn't program tests for that tuning to only be called when the pack is installed). I made a fix for it (also for the chessboard) a while ago. Its in my Misc Mod section and called cleaningstringtweak:

Ohh so that's why I've been seeing this lately (haven't played in months). I thought it was my Perfectionist sims, because I don't have the Dust-kit :| I'll be sure to grab that mod, it will be in good company. No doubt I'll find a couple more I didn't have too! :D
