What expansion pack should I get?

I'm trying to decide what expansion pack I want to get. I want to get something that's worth it, and that's fun to play with.

    Which ones do you have less you don't have any of them?

    Get Together I really enjoy. Definitely helps in giving your Sims more things to do. I love the clothing and seeing so many sims art dance clu bs, ordering multiple drinks and conversing with one another not to mention invites out to go to parties.

    Seasons just seem to be definitely a must if you haven't gotten it already. Weather in any sims game just make things more lively and dynamic. Not to mention your sims plans can completely be ruined when rain is actually a thing along with storms.
  • I like them in the following order:

    1st= Seasons
    2nd=Get Together
    3rd=Cats & Dogs
    4th=City Living/Get To Work
  • It depens on what you like. Do you want gameplay, or find pets really important? My list would looks like this:

    1. Get Together: The club system is really great and versatile and the world is just absolutely gorgeous, the best world in the sims 4 franchise if you ask me. If you want gameplay, i'd go with this one.
    2. Seasons: A totally different feel for the game. And the calender with planned events is nice. So git of gameplay and bit of new atmosphere for the game.
    3. Get to work: I really like the aliens and the scientist career but this is mainly in nr. 3 because personal preference.
    4. Cats and Dogs: I'm not that much into pets, but if that is your thing they look really nice. And again a fantastic world for your sims to explore and live in.
    5. City Living: The urban setting is ok but I don't use the apartments in my game. The festivals are always interrupting my plans so I mostly ignore them.

    But to be honest, I would also look into game packs if I were you. If I had to include gamepacks in my list, some would come up higher than the last two EP's in my list. Especially Parenthood and dine out are a big addition to my style of gameplay.
  • Do you currently have any EPs? Also what's the purpose for the EP purchase -- is it for the additional gameplay or is it because you want more worlds for housing Sims?

    For gameplay I'd go in this order:

  • Get Together:: Club system is a great way to group up Sims by common interests or just to make it easier to find romantic partners ==
  • Seasons: If you're primarily a family player, I might put this first; unlike Sims 3 with the festivals, Sims 4 Seasons is very much centered around the home.
  • City Living: This has the festivals, flexible careers where you can either work from home or go to the office (great if you have a multiple Sim household), lots of new foods and recipes. I know there is some disappointment with the apartments, but I find them useful for housing single Sims and couples just starting out.
  • Get To Work: It's been a while since I've played any of the active careers -- they're okay but a bit glitched in spots. Retail can get tedious plus it doesn't count as an actual "job" which makes no sense -- if you play rotationally you'll occasionally come across your retail owner being pulled into an NPC role like mixologist.
  • Cats & Dogs: The pets are cute but can get a bit of a hassle after a while. And they work ebtter in a smaller household or if you designate a specific family member for the care. One issue I discovered is that if one Sim trains a dog in a behavior/trick (fetch, sit, etc.), s/he is the onely one who can command the animal in that hehavior which makes zero sense to me.

    For worlds, I would go:

  • Get Together: probably the most beautiful of the expansion worlds. I love the combination of the Tudor architecture and some of the more modern elements. And it adds some really nice build mode items/textures.
  • Cats & Dogs: Brindleton Bay is gorgeous. I like the waterfront area, and the more expansive areas out and about. I'm just barely exploring it since I had some personal issues (death in the family) when the pack released last fall.
  • City Living: Most people have a love/hate relationship with the city, since you can't build your own apartments (you can remodel them though by moving interior walls and such) and I do like them for my starting out Sims (especially the YAs moving out of the family home; I've even done a few Teens In The City now that teens can live on their own).
  • Get to Work/Seasons: No new worlds so N/A

  • Very hard to choose. For me, if I had to add one at a time again for the ones I have I would go this order:

    #1Seasons Very cool, lots of features added, and it made gardening and flower-arranging for a career interesting and a nice combination for my retail stores in 'Get To Work'. If you don't have 'get to Work', you can still work in the career and build the skill and sell arrangements - which can be pricy with certain high quality flowers from your garden.) I've had a lot of fun with the features of this pack... and it is WAY cool to see it snow and cover their world...) There are a lot of challenging parts that are a cool switch-up in your worlds.
    #2Get To Work (I would combine with the 'Dine Out' pack so you can do restaurants also...) This pack allows you to build, purchase and run retail stores, and I use it a lot. ( You can also own & run restaurants if you add the 'Dine Out' pack. The restaurants are less profitable to my Sims for the time and effort spent, but are really a great challenge and fun. ) The stores (retail) are my favorite if used to sell their wares. You get a pretty nice profit if you sell high quality skilled items your Sims make (or grow). My Sim households who do this as a large household working and running the store as a group are both millionaires now. They do work hard and rotate managing/cooking for the store, etc., but it is a fun, great challenge. Just scale back to make it less work. Still... potential for great money!
    #3City Living I enjoy this 'world' as an option for visiting or living in. I've always had my Sims in one of the penthouses or the 'Old Salt House' so they are not throwing away the rent money and because you avoid a lot of the hassles that apparently come with their apartment life.
    #4Cats & Dogs I just started using my 'Cats & Dogs' world and features... I am enjoying it, but it is a bit of a handful. The dogs I have are adorable, but very high maintenance/needy. There is also an annoying bug currently that I cannot hire a gardener, which is a near deal-breaker since I have a (valuable) greenhouse and want backup for if my Sims don't maintain it on their own while I play other households. It is pretty cool, though, if you love pets &/or cuteness. :smile:
    #5Get Together As far as I'm aware of, I don't use these features as much as I thought I would... but I may be using more than I realize. I tend to make very involved and large households that are already a handful, and external social gathering options are of less interest to me, but that is my game style. If you love social gatherings that doo not include your own or other created households, I would move it up on the list above 'City Living'

    Enjoy your new virtual adventures! :smiley:

    You don't need Det to Work to run a restaurant. It's part of the Dine Out pack.

    I pretty much agree with the list @stilljustme2 wrote. Probably switch around GT and C&D, but yeah.

  • If you can afford them all buy them all, Game packs too, and stuff packs. When I started back playing Sims 4 I was very greedy and bought all that I could afford and I am the same way still.

    Even when we get Sims 5 we will still play Sims 4, Lots still play Sims 2 and 3. So it's an investment.
  • @LadyKyn @elanorbreton @Atreya33 @stillme2 @SheriGR @luimistelija @StormsView Thanks for responding! I decided to go with seasons because I don't have it already and I've played with it for a bit now and really enjoy it and think it's the best for me.
  • Hi, I hope you can help me out! I already have Cats & Dogs, Seasons, Get to work, City living and I want to buy another EP.
    Get Famous looks real fun to me, does anyone have any experience yet with it? I think I'm more attracted to Get Famous than to Get together. I don't know about the benefits of Get Together? Because I'm not a fully social player (for example, not a club person), is it worth it?.

    Besides, I want to shop this sale one or two (or maybe three) Gamepacks, I loved how jungle adventures looks on youtube (does it include a form of adventure game playing? I thought so, that would be amazing!), I am a foodie and therefore Dine out looks like a lot of fun, Outside (camping or so?, sorry I am Dutch and I don't know the exact translation) and than the last one I am doubting about is Wellness. What do you recommend?

    I would love to hear from you! :smile:

    I don't have GF yet so I can't really comment on that. I'm still reading and deciding if it's worth paying for. I'm not interested in the claim to fame aspect, but the ability to allow some fame for careers already in game has caught my attention.

    Get Together is actually a hidden gem! I don't care about the clubs themselves - I'm all for the benefits.

    Are you a family player? GT is great for families. I always start a family "club". You don't even have to leave the lot. Just set 5 activities that your family would normally do (ex. showering, watching TV, reading, friendly social, etc), start a gathering and rack up the points!
    I always get the Rally the Troops benefit first. It raises hunger, bladder and energy. This is especially beneficial to counteract the flaw of having a Sim leave the lot while the other Sims are sleeping to come back and everyone is up or if you work overtime and the other Sims have done nothing that needed to be done like homework or cooking a meal. "Rally" allows everyone to only need to shower, socialize and raise fun before work/school.
    You can buy the perks that set the club vibe to help accomplish the child aspirations like "doing homework while focused" or "playing on a jungle gym while playful".
    There are perks for each skill as well to help you gain them faster.

    The way the pack was advertised really did a disservice to it. It doesn't cover the real potential.
