Not the meat from livestock but collecting their produce. Gathering chicken/duck eggs, milking cows/goats, shearing sheep, training horses. It would make my Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons/Stardew Valley heart rejoice.
But I'd also like to explore more crops like corn, watermelon, etc. And possibly the processing of goods.
This about sums up what I'd like in a farming pack. - mikamakimonNew SpectatorA farming pack could be implemented in so many different ways. The most disappointing for me is if we did get great looking farms, complete with animals, but they'd have no function other than to look cute and pretty. I'd like a farm that works, along with careers, hobbies and aspirations that are relevant to farming. Be it a vineyard or orchard, a dairy, wool, or egg farm, whatever it happens to be, I'd like to be able to take the main product and then turn them into something else. Grapes from vineyards can be made into wine, and even preserves and vinegar. Yarn can be made from wool, which in turn can be used for knitting. There could be an option to sell at a farmers market or maybe work it in with the existing retail system, but hopefully something better.
Another idea is a 'pick your own' kind of farm, and the crops could be rotated according to the season. This could be great for celebrating holidays (pumpkins and apples for Halloween or holly/evergreen branches for Christmas), or even just for obtaining fruits or vegetables for recipes or flowers for flower arranging. - atreya33Seasoned AceI am not really interested in a farming pack. But horses would be very nice to have.
- Everything.
- Ceridwen_aeSeasoned NewcomerAlso the everything! Though I can miss the meat bit and would like to grow oats and produce oat milk (because oat milk is awesome and I'm a total convert). Also add in things like jam* making - no big song and dance over this, we have fruit plants and trees in game and cooking animations which could be altered ever so slightly for jams. Then said jams get sold in the usual places plus farmers' markets (where we can sell any other produce we might have too, such as eggs and milk). Given we have a lot of stuff already that can be used as based items to modify and re-purpose, I hope this would be included.
I'd like sheep and/or llama for making wool yarn with, and being able to dye the wool. Maybe works like candle making. Can be used or sold in the usual manner.
I would die for farmhouse/country style aesthetics in my builds. We have some already, and I'm fine with these being American-style, but would love them to consider a Scandinavian-inspired look for interiors, plus farm industrial pieces repurposed as decor. It must all simply match!
Also, an American Gothic painting should be available.
*jelly to Americans - Everything, but I can get by with only milking the cows and goat and not after their meat.
- All of the above. I adore Stardew Valley and would love to give Bob Pancakes llamas to take care of.
- Everything is great, but I want it to add an option to explore the new agriculture system/technology.
We already have the vertical planting so, it would be great to have a hydroponic system. With this, it will allow the Sims to be creative in designing their own water system which can work better than the sprinkler.
Supply chain - Since the Sims can already produce their own products from raw to the end product, perhaps, adding this feature will allow a new gameplay/interaction.
Genetic engineering/nanotech - where it can increase the crop resistance to insects, produce vaccines, growth hormone, etc.... so, it can add new skills like research & development or genetic engineering. Which it will also be interesting if the games allow us to produce new & unique crops (which is only exists in the Sims - something like we have for the Cowplant) for example, tomato + carrot = it will produce a carrot shape tomato or a tomato shape carrot. Or Apple + Chilli = Spicy Apple or Sweet/sour chilli and more.
Potentially using the drone for pollination or even automated crop harvesting.
Ability to export & import the productions other than selling at the farmer's market.
The traditional agriculture is great, but to have an option to apply the new technology would make the pack interesting, educative & perhaps appealing to others who are not interested with the farming pack. - Im not really into farming but i'ld love horses.
That and a world with no other houses or other stuff in the background so that i could use it in historical play. - elliebretonSeasoned AceAll of them ?
