What happened to Mila Munch's children's father?

I'm interested to see how many Simmers believe certain theories. I personally believe he's possibly deceased or abandoned his family, because the children do look like they are biological brothers and...

He either abandoned them, or she left him and took the kids. My theory was that she left and took the kids, and that it was bad. If there's no father in the family tree, then it's because they've all disowned the man and started over (or because the makers of Windenburg didn't bother making him, but that's no fun).
