What happens after you become Chief of Police? And Other Gameplay Questions

The new video looks AWESOME!

I have a couple gameplay related questions:

Will sims to have to quit their professions due to "game over"? What happens after your sim becomes Chief of Police (I just realised the acronym for that is "cop" :joy:) Can you still have interesting adventures, or will your sim show up and there is nothing to do? I'm asking because I never finished playing WA (which was a ton of fun), but I heard from a lot of players that after one sim completes WA, then no other sim can do it.

Also, is it possible to avoid promotion? If you just want a couple playables to be normal beat cops and not detectives can you still go to work and not worry about getting a demotion? Or are you automatically promoted for completing goals and demoted for not doing them?

Also, what happens if you have several sims in the police profession? They can't all be chief of police, right?

Also, like in TS2 where sims in the same careers would fraternise will this be the same for TS4? Will those sims that you are not playing be at work if their jobs are the same (for continuity)?

@SimGuruLyndsay‌ or @SimGuruBChick‌ - I am at work during the ask a guru chat, so I will never be able to ask these questions there. I do read that section, so could you post my questions on the thread or perhaps provide some gameplay mechanics here when you have time?

Careers are a large part of my sim stories, and I am so excited about the upcoming EP. Next up the Town Hall GP?! (wishful thinking )

  • (note my only "detective' show is Murdoch Mysteries) you might as chief of police be asked to um go on some cases (like maybe trying to interview a suspect?) with the detective or play 'bad'/'good' cop with the 'detective' cop in the interrogation room. I'm going to be using a cheat for my Braceknreid sim to be the police chief so I can have him be at the top of the ladder to represent the head of the station and I might use it too for my Murdoch sim to be a police detective and Crabtree be a cadet.

@MadameLee - What cheat are you planning on using?

"careers.promote" cheat lets hope it works for the new careers as well.
  • Thanks for letting me know. I'm hoping there will be a way to lock careers as well.
  • Interesting. I hadn't really thought about this. I hope there will be a way to lock careers too. Not everyone wants to be in charge. I like having a few mediocre sims.
  • I was really wondering this too earlier today. I think what happens is that you just continue to do what the task are of a Chief. That is my guess. But I do know in WA you could do it with another Sim but not with the same Sim that completed it cause it would not reset. As far as other Sims who have jobs in the home is confusing me too. What does happen to them. Maybe its like when you go on vacation and they get left at home and you are just playing the one Sim.
  • for me, being the chief is no different than being at the start of the career what so ever xd
you get the same tasks... the old chief of police will still be there, but talking to him will not make him insult you...

Darn. I used to get so amused when the Chief would insult my Ancestor, too. ;)
