What is the best way to start a fire instantly?

For storytelling purposes I have a large lot I need to have burn down. It's a 40x30 and the building is multistory and takes up most of the lot. So there is a lot I need to set on fire. What's the best way to make that happen? I'm the world's worst search engine user. I've tried here and Google and all I get is how to increase the chance of fire, turn fire off completely, or how to kill a sim with fire. I'm not looking to kill a sim with it, but I will be using a throwaway townie if I need to risk a sim's life to accomplish this. I'm a benevolent goddess to my favored and useful sims, but it doesn't pay to be a random townie in my worlds.

I'm looking for the entire lot to burn down if possible or at least have significant damage that would plausibly call for tearing it down. I did read that electronics and grills will make the fire spread so I can always load up the lot with those items if that helps. I'm just lacking a quick trigger for the fire. You could say I'm looking for the matches and gasoline.😈

If you only have the base game, fear of fire can really help to boost the chance of starting a fire.
  • As mentioned the fireworks worked well for me years ago when I needed to burn down the Landgraab home for a story. It took a while for fireworks to work, some would just blow up in my sims face. It takes a couple of attempts to get it work but the outcome is worth it. Promise, not a pyromaniac, these are from my game years ago, who woulda thought that fireworks are useful https://i.imgur.com/XxBXwd4.png Eventually the fire travels through the lot on its own https://i.imgur.com/gVkulQo.png

They created a spectacle when I tried them but I just can't get enough items burning at the same time to really get the result I was looking for. I feel like it's doable it's just going to take time and patience to put enough items in the room to really get it going. The fire doesn't seem to spread quickly to moves slowly from one item to the next and there's never more than a handful burning at once.

  • There is a mod called “more deadly/intense fire” and it would make the fire spread really quickly. I tried it before and after the fire starts, it pretty much instantly sets the whole lot on fire. It hasn’t been updated in 2 years though so I don’t know if it still works.

Hope you get the results you are looking for, also if possible try to have multiple sims starting the fire at once. Maybe that'll get it to look like a lot of fires are happening.
  • @SeashoreLivia That sounds interesting. I'll go track it down and try it, I'm not out anything if it doesn't work. Thank you very much for mentioning it.

@BlueSeaWaves I was wondering about having a small army of spellcasters flinging inferniate spells. I just had Morgan casting lots of those spells. The fire was the least of his worries, it didn't come anywhere near him. It was the spellcaster overload that nearly killed him.? The funniest part was after setting a bunch of fires from outside, he decided to got into the burning building to empty the trash. That's where I got that picture in the last screenshot you took thread the other day. I shouldn't have been surprised though. In an earlier test he went back in to the burning building to use the toilet.? I suppose if you have to go bad enough...

Hmmm. I tried setting fireworks off outside for a New Years celebration tonight and the sim lighting them just does a T-Pose and resets himself.
  • @DaniRose2143 Lmao I went to look at the picture, cannot left the firemen find the place a mess. Morgyns priorities are definitely in check.
