This is the 3rd time i've done scientist career and i've never had these issues: 1. Why do I have to make the Hover lamp, momentum conserver, clone machine, sim ray...etc over and over and over again? Does anyone get asked to make these devices more than once? 2. I'm being assigned tasks that are not possible to complete. It's telling me to make Spark Serum but i'm not getting the option to even make that one. 3. Kind of goes with #2 but it is telling me to use mind control to make my co-workers panic. I looked at the sim ray upgrade options and there is nothing for panic. What gives?

Your Sim will be able to upgrade the simray when reaching level 9, and fulfil the tasks then.

I'm also asked to make the same items over and over again, never occurred to me that was strange? You can sell them I believe? I do think it's strange your sim has to fulfil tasks they're not skilled enough for though, that sounds like a glitch to me. 'Fulfil the task then' isn't a solution I think? The task will be gone at the end of the day. So when your sim hasn't reached level 9 by then you can't fulfil it.

Once you do enough daily tasks, and yes there are SUPPOSED to be some you can't do, like yell at a tourist when there are no tourists, you need to practice analyzing, brainstorm on the constructor, or experiment on the chemistry station for the rest of your shift. That's how you get breakthroughs and, you need those to get promoted. Breakthroughs are how you learn to make more serums, do more upgrades to several items and such.If you haven't been doing the breakthroughs, the tasks will get ahead of you because had you done them, you'd be at the level of the tasks.

wow, you need to calm down. First, this is not a bug. To make a Sim ravenous, you have to use the SimRay on them to make them hungry. Secondly, you necroposted and I'm guilty by association now.

Yeah, I have all these issues too. I can get around not being able to make (some of) the serums by ordering starter packets of seeds via the garden pots in the building. Of course, when it asked me to make Reaper's Luck (?), I was plum out of luck there as it requires a death flower.

I second what foussi said about your SimRay, though; you can upgrade it even when it's not a daily task. I've had to do that a few times, too.
