I'd like to see an expansion like "World Adventures" from Sims 3. The different artifacts that you could find and bring back to your houses were fun reminders of the adventures your Sims had. Plus you could easily play out all those Indiana Jones/Lara Croft-inspired stories that you wanted.
I also liked that old skills suddenly had new applications (if I am remembering this correctly). I think the athletics skill had some type of interaction or impact on your Sim's sparring ability. Likewise I think both of those skills helped determine your success fighting the mummies in Egypt.
